Location description from owner

The Costa del Sol region

As well as Teba with its historic castle and beautiful scenery there are many white villages and towns well worth a visit. Ronda, a spectacular town with its impressive gorge and Antequera, an historic town with prehistoric caves and the beautiful El Torcal National Park, are both 35 mins drive.
Inland Andalucian has something for everyone all year round. Enjoy a much slower pace of life in summer, lounging by our pool or spending a day at the lakes, followed a livelier, slightly cooler evening strolling round the village, or perhaps at one of the local festivals which go on into the early hours. (Teba's summer fesival - first weekend in August 5 nights)
Come in Spring and enjoy the stunning surrounding countryside, at its best at this time of year, with its lush green fields and wild flowers. An ideal time for all sorts of outdoor activities. (Teba's spring 'Romeria' festival - middle May).
Autumn is usually balmy, clear and dry with cooler evenings, ideal time for all activities and for those who don't like it too hot! Teba's Cheese Festival takes place over the first weekend in October and 'The Scot James Douglas' Festival middle September (google for more info)
Come in the winter and make the most of cheaper rates, do some sightseeing at any of the provincial cities of Andalucia, go rockclimbing at El Chorro or perhaps hire one of our BMW motorbikes!

Teba

The area is famous for it the being the Andalucian Lake District, a beautiful area with a nature reserve that has
3 large crystal clear, turquoise lakes. You can swim, hire pedaloes, kayaks and sunbeds. There too is the magnificent El Chorro gorge, which offers fantastic climbing.

Many activities are available for those with more energy and we are happy to help you arrange them if necessary. Horse-riding and paragliding are popular also mountain climbing, walking, cycling and bird-watching are the major themes in the area. Fantistic fishing is aplenty at the Guadalhorce lakes. If sight seeing is what you prefer, Ronda and Antequera are 30 mins drive. Malaga is 50 mins and the cities of Granada, Seville and Cordoba are 90 mins drive. The main line train station is 15 mins. Our own private taxi service is available for trips should you not want to drive.

“Amazing location and a taste of real Spain”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed at La Calera in July this year. Lindsay and Mark were incredibly hospitable and made us feel incredibly welcome. The property is nestled into the hills with amazing views across olive groves and the lakes. just taking in the view made us relaxed pretty much straight away! The town of Teba was a taste of real Spain and everyone in the bars and restaurants were extremely friendly. The spot is also a perfect place to visit Saville, Granada and Cordoba - all of which are 90 minutes drive away. I would heartily recommend this property, and Lindsay and Mark's spot of perfection in the Andalusian hills. Oh, and do try Lindsay's paella too! Hope to go back very soon.

“Excellent short break!”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2012

We booked this after seeing a writeup in Ride magazine and it totally lived up to our expectations. We wanted a short break with 2 motorbikes to hire (both myself and my wife ride) - so we settled on 2 x GS650s for 3 days to tour around on and a last day at leisure lazing on the terrrace. The apartments are fabulous, plenty of space on the terraces and great views. We knew there wasn't a lot to do in Teba, not much English is spoken and it's not 'touristy' around here - which is exactly what we wanted. Great motorbiking country and Mark pointed out the best routes and viewpoints. Mark & Lindsey were lovely hosts and I'm sure we'll stay again.

“The perfect place to experience rural Spain”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2012

Having just returned from Teba, already we're talking about going back and recommending it to friends. The accommodation was everything we were looking for as a family of three...and more! The views you wake up to are breathtaking, the perfect vista for breakfast on the balcony. The apartment was finished to a high standard in all aspects. It really was home from home. The hospitality of Mark, Lindsay and family (extended too!) is to be enjoyed e.g airport transfer, trips to the lakes, local knowledge and an honesty fridge - there is nothing they haven't thought of! We would highly recommend Lindsay's Authentic Seafood Paella - a must for all guests. However, don't take them on at table tennis, they always win! Aside from all Mark and Lindsay have to offer at La Calera, the town gives you a taste of local life in Teba. We visited the fishmonger, greengrocer and butcher as well as the supermarket and were pleasantly suprised by what was on offer, and the prices we were being charged e.g 2euros for a bottle of wine, 30cents for a can of beer and salmon steaks, mussels and clams for under 5euros! Eating out was a pleasurable experience too, tasty traditonal tapas - at an extremely reasonable price. However, very little English is spoken in Teba, so brush up on your Spanish before you go! Would recommend (already have done), so thank you Mark, Lindsay and family! (+ Nacho, Ruby and Deana!)

“Unbelievable !!”

Reviewed 29 May 2012

Myself and my wife Stayed in La Calera for a week and hired a BMW GS Adventure. A stunning villa set in an equally stunning location. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated, with all the facilities you will need !. The Terrace and pool are fantastic to sit and relax on, with an amazing view over the hills and lakes that at sunset and sunrise are just stunning. At night the windmills on the mountains provide a beautiful light show in the distance. The BMW we had was in perfect condition and I was well really really pleased with it ! Transfer to and from the Airport made getting to La Calera really easy. Teba is a great untouched by commercialism place that gives a great taste of true Spanish Rural life in a stunning region. Andalusia is Biker heaven with awesome lakes, mountains and gorgeous towns and villages to go explore. Mark and Lyndsay really looked after us and made us feel welcome, and Mark is a great source of knowledge for the best biking routes. (Ask him how to get to the SMURF Village !) Also Lee takes care of the bikes for you !! As a Biker you will not be disappointed with Andalusia and you definitely could not pick a more beautiful and relaxing and welcoming place to stay than La Calera ! I'll definitely be back ! It's simply "Unbelievable !"

“Fantastic location, great hosts”

Reviewed 20 Mar 2012

Fantastic place with really helpful and friendly hosts. Booked La Calera having seen the review in a biking magazine and it did not disappoint us at all. Yes it is rural and you have to engage with the locals and make an effort to speak spanish but that is part of the charm. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful and the advice from Mark about suitable routes and rides out was spot on. The bike hire was excellent and the bikes in excellent condition. Scenery and roads fantastic. All in all a beautiful place with great hosts and excellent bike hire facilities.Hopefully we will return with family and friends.
