Location description from owner

The Canary Islands region

The canary islands are commonly referred to as the islands of eternal spring, which speaks to their warm and sunny climate all year round. Come October or November when most mediteranean destinations are closing down for the winter, the high travel season begins on these islands. La Palma is one of the seven Canary Islands. It is called Isla Bonita, the pretty island, for its natural beauty. (The island has preserved most of its original beauty and has halted overdevelopment while offering a wide variety of activities and sights of natural and cultural beauty that is unsurpassed). Green high cliffs covered with banana plantations and native pine trees at higher elevations drop into the dark blue black sand beach shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

The best climate zone on the island can be found on its dryer West side at or below 200 meters above sea level. Any higher elevation turns out to be too cold for swimming in winter. The village of Tazacorte where the apartment is located, is know for being the sunniest part of the island and the area with the highest hours of sun per year in entire Europe. This means sunbathing and swimming in the apartment's pool or the ocean year round. La Palma is also famous for its interconnected hiking and bicycle trails that span from North to South and East to West. One can hike for days and never leave the trail if so desired.

One of the most famous trails on the island connects several dormant volcanoes and traverses from sea-level to snow covered peaks in spring. One can imagine the diversity of fauna. La Palma's westside is also know for its spectacular sunsets, which can be enjoyed from the penthouse apartment windows but more so from the balcony and the expansive penthouse terrace of the apartment night after night.

Tazacorte

Beachcombing year round at Tazacorte beach (8 min. by car), Puerto Naos Beach (10 min. by car).

Whale watching from the house or pool deck (seasonal). Snorkeling, Diving, Fishing, Dolphin Excursions by boat, Sailing, World famous hiking on breathtaking interconnected hiking trails. Exceptional mountain and road biking, Hang-gliding. Immerse yourself in the culinary specialties of this island by visiting local restaurants . (Mojo, Gofio, local goat cheese in a variety of preparations, fresh seafood, etc.)

Shop at farmer's markets 7 days a week for the freshest fish, produce and local specialties. Drive around the island and explore its various climate zones and changing fauna by car. Island hopping to the neighbor islands by air (Binter, Canary Fly, etc.) or by ferry (Fred Olson or Armas).

House rules

Casa Alba is situated in a totally quiet area, where one can only hear the birds and sometimes the ocean. Therefore we encourage those travellers to book, that look for relaxation and unwinding. We discourage anybody that wishes to party to book our house. Definitely we would enforce the adherence to a normal noise level.

“Fantastic accommodation, beautiful location , perfect holiday”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2013

The villa had everything you could want. Owners very friendly and on hand to sort out any issues and provide hints and tips on where to go/eat etc. The weather was just right at 26 degrees mid October. Would recommend a boat trip out to see Dolphins - we were lucky enough to see a large pod. Fantastic scenery - we drove up the volcano passed the observatory and ended up above the clouds! The views and scenery are stunning with lots of great walks. The island has a perfect mix of things to do and being able to relax. I would highly recommend both the villa and the island and we will be back one day
