Location description from owner

The England region

Brentor Heights boasts a fantastic position right on the edge of Dartmoor National Park with its miles of open moorland, rugged tors, tumbling streams, ponies, cattle and sheep, hamlets, farms and villages, footpaths and quiet lanes; those enthusiastic about the outdoors have their playground at their doorstep!

West Country

The Church of St Michael de Rupe sits on the prominent rocky outcrop of Brentor. From the top of the Tor, which is a pleasant walk and an easy climb from Wortha Farm, there are panoramic views across Dartmoor, West Devon and Cornwall.

Close by Brentor is the village of Lydford, with its Norman castle and Lydford Gorge (NT). Here the river Lyd tumbles down a series of deep crevices and waterfalls, between quiet pools. The riverside walk along a narrow precipitous path is not for the faint hearted, but there are also easier tracks along the valley.

Tavistock is the nearest town, about 5 miles distant. It offers a wide selection of shops and restaurants. The award-winning Farmers' Market in the square is open two Saturdays in each month, and the indoor Pannier Market hosts a variety of different markets most days. The Wharf Arts and Entertainment Centre is the venue for a range of cinema and stage performances.
