A lovely, cosy 19th century cottage situated in the oldest parish of the town and centrally situated just a few minutes walk to the beautiful Saxon centre of Taunton which contains many lovely restaurant's, artisan shops, parks, gardens, riverside walks. Edith Cottage is owner cleaned, managed and maintained with a continuous program of maintenance to ensure a high standard for our visitors. This delightful two bedroomed cottage boasts a lovely sunny garden to the front with a private more secluded courtyard garden at the rear. The family bathroom, with shower over bath, is conveniently situated between the two bedrooms. On the ground floor we have a separate lounge with Smart TV and dining room which leads to a coat/boot area. From the kitchen and utility area there is a WC with hand basin. We have the added bonus of a designated parking space for the cottage which is reached via electronic security gates making parking safe and secure. Please note: Parking limited to ONE car only. Strictly no commercial vehicles. Free on street parking is available a 10 minute walk from the cottage/public car parks nearby. Minimum 2 night stay, off peak.

We are able to accommodate up to 4 people (excluding under 3s, we can provide a Mamas & Papas travel cot and Highchair for use upon request) One small dog is usually permitted by prior arrangement only but will entail a small additional fee.

Taunton has excellent public transport links via rail and road and is the home of Somerset County Cricket Club, Taunton Racecourse and the renowned Taunton Flower Show dubbed "the Chelsea of the West" (held annually in August)

The West Somerset Steam Railway at Bishops Lydeard traverses the North Somerset coast visiting Watchet, Blue Anchor, Dunster and Minehead. The Exmoor National Park is approx. 50 mins by Car. To the South of the County is the Jurassic coastline of Lyme Regis, West Bay (home to the famous TV programme Broadchurch) and Chesil Beach.

For walkers and cyclists there is easy access to the Blackdown and Quantock Hills where there are an abundance of well marked routes to follow. Something for everyone.

Getting around

Taunton has excellent transport links should you wish to visit without a car. There is a mainline Train station 15 to 20 minute walk or 10 minute taxi ride from the cottage (taxi rank at the station) The Bus station is located in the town centre approx 10 minute walk from Edith, taxi rank available here too. National Express and Stagecoach buses serve Taunton and there are also lots of local buses for you to explore the surrounding area.

Interaction with guest

Where possible I like to meet and greet guests upon arrival however for flexible arrivals, late check in (after 8pm) or if I am unavailable keys can be collected from a secure key safe. Key safe instructions and code are provided a few days before arrival. With meet and greet this enables me to answer any questions you may have about the cottage and facilities and I can also provide advice with regards to the nearest supermarket, eating establishments and help with things to do and see in the area.

If Julie (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
