Description

THE SPACIOUS OLD RECTORY is a holiday let exclusively for your personal use. The Georgian Old Rectory offers spectacular facilities for self catering holidays.

There are 4 excellent reception rooms, 2 lounges with lots of sitting areas. Big dining room, large games room offering table tennis, pool and more.

Produce a banquet in the kitchen and all enjoy sitting on one large table in the dining room.

There are 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms so you can enjoy your Own facilities and is suitable for a wheelchair user (3 ensuite bedrooms are on the ground floor)

The 3 acre garden is great for outdoor activities. Ball games, Barbecue etc.

The Old Rectory is set in a village that has a large lake running through it (9 mile perimeter) boats and bikes can be hired, great for long walks or running, fishing or bird watching.

Take a trip to Dedham village made famous by John Constable, or maybe visit Jimmy's Farm one mile away from the Rectory.

We are between the river Stour and Orwell, take a trip to Shotley and cross over to historic Harwich by river taxi.

Although the Rectory is set in a quaint village we are 6 miles south of Ipswich so you can enjoy the Best of both worlds.

“Best place for a family party!”

The Old Rectory is a great property for hosting big family get togethers. For us, we hired it to celebrate a 60th birthday, and it provided everything we needed - clean and comfortable, a large kitchen and a dining area large enough to seat us all at the same time, and a lot of sitting areas for conversation, with large comfortable couches. The games room kept us busy too - table tennis, pool and table football provided loads of competitive space for our energetic ones! It is in such a pretty spot too, easy to get to from the A14/A12 corridor, and I can just imagine it in the summer, with the doors open, barbecue lit and long evenings. Finally, we want to thank Richard and his team for helping to make our weekend special - he even got the weather perfect - cold, dry and sunny! what more could we want for a late November party?

“Lovely weekend stay”

We stayed at the Old Rectory for the weekend to celebrate a family member turning 70. The house is large and spacious. The kitchen is set up like an industrial kitchen, it's great and really well equipped with pots, pans, utensils and the range cooker is fab. The games room was a hit with all the family across the three generations. We especially liked the table football and table tennis. There are some nice walks around the nearby lake and the garden was big enough for us all to play kids cricket. Richard was very helpful and accommodating and we would highly recommend this house for large family gatherings. We made some wonderful memories this weekend and we hope to return again some day.

“Brilliant location for a large group including children”

Perfect venue for a large group get together and child friendly. Good flexibility in terms of room hire - the fewer the rooms the lower the cost, and a really versatile space. Games room and large garden with bbq are great for keeping all entertained with pubs and walks nearby. Will be coming back later in the year!

“Fantastic Family Friendly Getaway”

We hired the Old Rectory for a weekend to celebrate myself and my fiance turning 30 this year and we had both of our families to come and share the celebration with us. It also served as a 'get-to-know each other' for both families before our wedding in May. Richard the owner was incredibly helpful and welcoming and after seeing us into the 'house', left us to our own devices. We were amazed at the size of the place. Even with 23 of us the place was still plenty big enough for everyone to enjoy their own space if needed. The bedrooms were ample and each had its own great en-suite facilities. The games room was a hive of activity for most of the weekend, hosting many round-robin tournaments. The kitchen was brilliantly kitted out with enough crockery, cutlery etc. to cater for an army. The focal point was the dining room however which when full felt like a medieval banquet hall. The whole place was perfect. There was something for everyone whether it be a 9 mile walk around the local reservoir, game of tennis on the nearby courts, frame or two of pool in the games room or quiet read in one of the lounges. We would definitely recommend The Old Rectory to anyone looking to house a large group for a few days. We are already looking forward to having an excuse to do it again - perhaps for our 31st?

I booked the Old Rectory for a work retreat. 11 of us stayed, each had our own en suite and there was plenty of room for all of us in the dining room and sitting room. The house is beautiful, I had many compliments on booking it! Beautiful area as well, would recommend the Old Rectory for large families or groups. The game room is a added bonus!
