The Turkish Aegean Coast region

This region of Turkey absolutely beautiful. It has many diferent things to offer. To the astonishment of many first time visitors, Turkey is very green and mountainous throughout most of the country and The Turquoise Coast area in the south west is no exception. If you prefer beach holidays, just relaxing by the pool or exploring the surrounding historic areas the Fethiye area will suit all.

Temperatures can reach 39C or more in July and August. Rain in the summer is quite rare but can occur.

If you want to look around the area we recommend taking a day trip to Saklikent Gorge or a good way to see different sights is to do a jeep safari but be prepared to get wet and have fun. We also recommend taking a boat trip and visit the different bays where they will anchor the boat and you can get out and swim or visit the sights. These can be hired privately or take a day trip with other tourists.

Fethiye is a lively Turkish town of around 100,000 inhabitants. It is the perfect mix of of a sophisticated and ethnic life for living and for holidays.

The town has area called Paspatur which is a bazaar area catering for the needs of all tourists with real atmosphere. The main street and all side streets are full of big and small traders in everything you can possibly imagine. Right in the centre of town is a combined permanent Fish and fruit and veg market where the bargains are incredible.

Tuesday is the big market in Fethiye. Maybe 500 to 700 traders all selling their wares. Big bargains but please haggle sensibly and compare prices before you buy.

Some 3 to 4000 ex-pats live in and around Fethiye permanently with this number doubling at least during spring to autumn.

Fethiye must be one of the best sailing centres anywhere in the world with steady winds, crystal clear water and the most incredible scenery.

As you drive from Fethiye up the mountain to the charming village of Hisaronu, not only do you take in the beautiful scenery but on a hot summers day you can notice a welcoming difference in temperature as you climb.

The first area you pass through is Ovacik which has many hotels and apartments, shops and restaurants, then you come into Hisaronu village itself. The resort is popular with British visitors and the shops, restaurants and bars cater extensively for the needs of all age groups.

The village after Hisaronu is Olu Deniz and has fantastic beaches and the 'Blue Lagoon' and is only a ten minute journey by the regular Dolmus service down the mountain, where you will be able to find a variety of watersports ie.- water ski-ing, para sailing, scuba diving, snorkelling, pedaloes etc.

For the braver of you there is paragliding from the top of Babadag mountain and landing on the beach. If you prefer a more relaxing day on the water there are a selection of boat trips available from both Olu Deniz and Fethiye.Olu Deniz beach sweeps round in a vast crescent of coarse sand and shingle to the Lagoon, which is a National Park area now and a small charge (50p) is levied for entry.

"Excellent apartment in quiet location"

Transfers to and from airport arranged by owner. Detailed information regarding the area provided. We loved this well presented open plan apartment which was equipped to a high standard and was situated in a nice, quiet location - a real Turkish experience. Excellent inexpensive bus service runs regularly into the centre of Fethiye and beach resorts a few yards from the apartment. Lovely swimming pool and well maintained gardens. Particularly liked balcony overlooking pool where we ate breakfast every day.

"Brilliant Holiday"

Apartment is very modern and clean and has everything you need!! Great swimming pool which you can see from the balcony too. Loacation is great as it isnt in the main area so nice and quiet both in the day and at night but just a short bus or taxi ride away to the main town where there is an excellent choice of bars and restaurants for all ages. Cant wait to go back!!!
