“Weekend Away”

Fantastic place for a chilled weekend with friends. Everything we needed was there and ideally placed for going into Chester!

Prior to booking this I emailed he owner several times to ensure it was right for us; the owner assured me that the master bedroom had an ensuite bathroom and suited our needs. On arrival the property was still being 'cleaned' so we had to wait outside. The property looked ok on entrance however; the staircase was in the process of being decorated and had masking tape all the way up the stair carpet, the storage heater in the master bedroom was not attached to the wall, the ensuite bathroom had a note on the door saying 'do not use', I looked inside and it was unfinished and unusable,menaing the only shower/toilet for 2 families was downstairs in the open plan area, next to the kitchen, a few of he windows upstairs appeared unfinished as they did not open or have blinds attached, the kitchen is tiny and the equipment is very sparse and of poor quality (chipped glasses etc) and the TV has freeview but alot of channels are missing (all of BBC, TV licence obviously isn't paid for). I contacted the owner about most of the issues but he was very unhelpful, a bit rude and offered no explanation. It has the potential to be a lovely holiday let but is poorly managed; it was not a good experience for us and I would certainly not recommend.

Owner's reply: Hi I am sorry to note that the property was not completly ready prior to your arrival. I was informed by the decorators that they would get it ready but were unable to finish it in time. Please accept my apology. All the renovation work is now complete and the property is ready to be enjoyed in full. I was very offended by your suggestion that you were unable to access BBC because we have not paid the TV licence fee. This is a false allegation and should be either substantiated or withdrawn. On the brighter side, I hope you enjoyed the safe and secure rural retreat with plenty of open space, great views over Cheshire plains and spacious bed rooms with 2 king size beds. I appreciate your observation that the property has great potential and we will try our best to realise to to the full. Once again I thank you for choosing to stay with us and I hope you will change your mind regarding your future stay with us.

Fabulous barn conversion in excellent part of Chester. Beautiful views across open fields. Excellent decor and furnishing. We will def be booking here again. Just one thing that would help make this even more perfect......a mirror in the bedroom for hairdrying etc. Back soon and hopefully for longer next time.

Yes this is a very roomy property with large patio doors looking over the countryside of Cheshire. We really appreciated the king size bed and roominess of the bedroom. Downstairs we had a lovely wooden floor, smart TV and good kitchen area. The conversion was bright and airy. We really enjoyed the views to the rear, with an outside table and chairs in the patio area. The location is close to Chester and the zoo, huge shopping centre, etc. and the local village has a co-op, chippie and Chinese as well as a post office. Great holiday spot.

The property is very spacious and well finished. It was good value to us. My 3 year old loved running laps around the lounge/dinner. It's stylish with very thick curtains, the storage heaters also keep it warm (even without having had the wood burner on in the evening). It was about 1-4 degrees outside, with frosty mornings. There is a lack of breakable objects/ornaments etc which just get in the way and make holidays with a young child stressful. We moved all the beds together down one end of upstairs bedroom (in a row), so my child could not fall out of bed. When my child was asleep upstairs, we did not wake him up, just talking normally downstairs. The only disadvantage for a young child is the steepish stairs if you're a small child, but our child got the hang of them after a few days, and downstairs is big enough there was not much reason to be upstairs in the daytime. There wasn't anywhere you could put a normal size travel stairgate up, but a longer area one could work (or at the bottom of the stairs instead). There is a highchair but we had brought a booster seat so didn't need it. There is a large garden outside and lovely views, and again a lack of stuff about that was breakable. Bona was very helpful with arrangements for us getting there. You find it off the main road but I could not hear or see the road from inside or in the garden.

We visit Tarvin often and usually stay with family. We hired this lovely barn conversion for a change. It has everything you need for a holiday. Our two children slept in the attic bedroom and we had the sofa bed downstairs in the large open plan space. The barn is comfortable, decorated in a modern style and ideally located for Chester and the surrounding area. Tarvin is a lovely village with a new Co-op store, a couple of pubs, a super restaurant The Gunnery, and a couple of takeaways. Really recommend it.

Four of us and a baby had a lovely weekend here, it was very peaceful and had everything we needed. Very secure and plenty of parking space. We were lucky with the weather and were able to sit out on the patio in the evening, very welcome after a day trip round Chester Zoo!

I would recommend this lovely converted barn for anyone looking for a peaceful get away to a rural location. The barn is situated on two acres which has been recently refurbished and the entrance is very 'Dallas' like with it's own electric gates! Close proximity to convenient stores, Chester and motorways make it ideal travelling by car. Our stay was comfortable and spacious.
