The Catalunia region

Tarragona, located in the northeastern corner of the Iberian Peninsula, is Catalonia's southernmost capital city.

Thanks to the temperate climate, with an average yearly temperature of 18ºC (25ºC in summer, 12ºC in winter), the clean, sweeping beaches with their fine, golden sand and the singular artistic and architectural patrimony, officially declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, Tarragona is one of the most important tourism hubs in Europe.

Well-connected to Europe and the rest of the Iberian peninsula, it offers easy access to two airports: the first in Reus, just 7 kilometres away, and the second in Barcelona, 82 kilometres away. It also has direct rail links to all major Spanish and European capitals.

What's more, the city is home to one of the busiest commercial ports in the Mediterranean, as well as Port Tarraco, a stopover for luxury cruise ships.

Tarragona also marks the junction of two major Spanish motorways, the Mediterranean Motorway, which runs from Alicante to France and the rest of Europe, and the Northern Motorway, which begins in Tarragona and runs through to the Basque Country.

Tarragona, the essence of the Mediterranean

Tarragona offers visitors a wide range of services, making it the perfect destination for a relaxing or fun-filled break any time of year. The city extends an open invitation to savour its rich and varied cuisine, stroll along its streets full of colour and contrasts, enjoy its numerous and vibrant festivals, go for a swim from golden sandy beaches, find just what you're looking for in its many shops or visit the complex of historic Roman monuments declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Visitors come to enjoy the area's mild climate year round, and especially in summer, when the sun shines on the city's idyllic beaches perfect for families and the coastline offers a spectacular natural setting replete with top-quality campsites with a wide range of services.

Its excellent road, rail, air and sea connections make all the delights of Tarragona easily accessible to travellers who take the opportunity to visit and enjoy the wealth of wonderful sensations the city has to offer. Any time of year is the perfect time to come and sample the pleasures of this mosaic of attractions. As Lucius Annaeus Florus said, “The climate uniquely blends and blurs all the seasons so there appears to be perpetual springtime all year round.”

A tailor-made holiday awaits you in Tarragona!

"A wonderful gem in Tarragona"

Me and my elder parents were very pleased to find this apartment. The flat is situated right next to the beautiful Roman amphitheater and offers a great sea view from its terrace. In addition to the wonderful and spacey terrace filled with beautiful flowers where you could easily spend countless hours, the inner side of the apartment offers all the modern necessities for a great leisure. Natalia is a wonderful host and will answer promptly to any potential query. The location of the flat is great whether you are interested in historical sightseeing, city exploring or beach relaxing which make Tarragona a beautiful spot for Barcelona getaways. Would I return again? With pleasure!
