The Sicily region

The Greek cities of Sicily as Selinunte, Segesta, Syracuse, were among the most beautiful of the Hellenic world. Visit the magnificent Greek Theatre of TAORMINA, the archeologic Romain City of Tindari, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento or watch a show in summer grand Greek Theatre of Syracuse is an authentic diving in the distant past Hellenic. And the same happens in Sicily, with many other epochs and civilizations, from Spanish to French. Sicily is a book of history and art history, and cultures of the greatest civilizations of all time. An island with an exuberant nature, spine-tingling views and a delicious and varied cuisine of Mediterranean flavors and aromas unforgettable. Sicilian towns are Messina, TAORMINA, Catania, Siracusa, Caltanissetta, Enna, Ragusa, Trapani, Palermo, Agrigento and Noto.Sicily guard treasures of Magna Graecia, so close to Africa, the Iberian Peninsula and East and occupies a strategic position in terms of military and commercial. Pioneered by Phoenicians, by the Greeks, Romans, Arabs, built by the Byzantines ... So much mixture, what culture, what beauty! Flavors that run the world and perfume tables? Spectacular views, beautiful beaches, scenery, ruins, alleys, stairwells, cliffs, and the highest active volcano in Europe, Mount Etna! Sicily is a spectacle! It is no coincidence, is the desired goal by tourists from all over the world!Sicily is the largest and most important island in the Mediterranean, it extends for 25,460sq km. Planes of fertile red soil, excellent for the cultivation of vine grapes, citrus orchards and olive groves, alternate with hills, green in spring for the cultivation of wheat and, among the majestic mountains, Mount Etna, the most popular of active volcanoes. The climate is typically Mediterranean along the coasts, with mild, short winters and moderate rainfall. Freeway connection, located 200 meters away, will allow you to quickly connect, explore and discover remote areas of the island. There's no other place on Earth like Sicily. Our island is a unique place full of art, archaeology, history, folklore and breathtaking scenery. And, of course, great food. Sicily is almost a nation unto itself. The enchanting land where Archimedes taught and Saint Paul preached was a Greek colony, a Roman province, an Arab emirate and a Norman kingdom.

Taormina

The Taormina area also includes the beautiful and historic Valle d'Agro where all close there are the sea villages of S.Teresa di Riva, S. Alessio Siculo, Furci Siculo, Roccalumera and the hilltop villages of Savoca, Forza D'Agro, Casalvecchio and other small ancient medieval villages,La Villa is in the Village of Furci Siculo. It is a small seaside town, situated betwin S.Teresa and Roccalumera where is the entrance to the motorway A/18 Messina-Catania about km.2,5 from the Villa. Furci has a beautiful promenade with a large sidewalk for walking, the beach is very nice and spacious. Compared to S.Teresa, Furci is more for tourism, has some hotel and many B&B, bars, restaurants and a nice big square where there are many bars to enjoy our beautiful granite and ice cream. It also has a beautiful park with lots of games for children, immersed in trees and in the green close the sea, where families bring their children to enjoy. It also has a very nice and equipped naturist park to spend some time relaxing in nature and ideal place for make wonderful picnics. The villages of Furci Siculo and S.Teresa" are quiet but located in a strategic position to visit many places in the area. The beautiful and clean beaches of Furci and S. Teresa are km.2 from your Villa. The village does not have the confusion of tourist resorts, also S.Teresa has many shops, many supermarkets, pizzerias, ristorants, bars etc. We think both are a good base. You enjoy really beautiful places in the area, the wonderful Taormina only 11 km, with the splendid Taormina Mare "Isola Bella", Taormina hill with its medieval streets, hundreds of delightful shops, the Greek Theatre ... and much to discover! But Taormina it also has so much tourism and confusion! You believe us, better for a stay better a quiet village nearby! The very famous village of Savoca, tourism destination from around the world, is only 5 km from the Villa, so small, so typical, where the Godfather film was filmed (not surprisingly Coppola decided to make his movie here), and while there, visit the “The Savoca Mummies” preserved in an 18th century subterranean chamber, its museums, its churches medieval ancient, his small specialty stores, its ruined castle, its lovely old medieval streets ...! Savoca is truly a wonderful place to visit, you think that is considered one of the most beautiful medieval villages of Italy! Giardini Naxos is only 15 km. with its beautiful sandy beaches, is a very touristy place full of hotels, restaurants, pubs, nightclubs and discos. The sanctuary of Tindari, about 40 km, spectacular! The Etna Vulcan, incredible, spectacular! You can see the top of it from the Villa!Do not say anything else you'll see a lot but there is much to discover!

“Old Charm with a great view”

Reviewed 24 Jan 2016

I chose this Villa off the net, for its visual character and charm. It didn't disappoint. It had the exact character and atmosphere I was searching for, to enhance my experience. It was also a good base to explore the east coast of Sicily, and was located in the hills of a quiet, charming area/town close to all the tourist areas we wanted to see and experience. We stayed for 10 days which was perfect for us, to sight-see as well as take time to appreciate all the Villa had to offer. Giuseppe, was the perfect host and certainly made us feel welcome. He met us at the highway exit to take us to the Villa, which was a good thing as GPS navigation systems aren't that precise when trying to find small streets in Italy/Sicily. Giuseppe was also very helpful in fixing a couple of small issues we had during our stay (internet access etc), and nothing was too much trouble. The Villa itself, is very big and easy for groups to have their 'own' space. It is exactly what you see in the pictures, and if you're looking for 'old charm' this is the Villa for you. It's perfect for entertaining with a big kitchen that has most of what you would require on hand, a huge indoor dining area and outdoor terraces for alfresco dining/cocktails etc. The view, of course, just enhances the magic of this little oasis. As stated, you definitely need a car to stay here, but I would suggest a car to travel around Sicily anyway. You would be too restricted without one and reliant on taxis and day trip excursions which become costly. The villa itself is self-contained with everything you require and loads of space for everyone. I loved the layered terraces and the view is amazing. Having read all the reviews around the contentious walk from the street parking to the villa, we were well prepared and knew what to expect. Consequently, this was not an issue for us and not as ominous as others had made out. It all depends on your expectations I guess. There is parking at the villa, but I, for one, wouldn’t have felt comfortable driving our medium sized hire car to get to it. In this, the locals know best! Santi, the Property Manager, was also fantastic, checking all was well, without being intrusive. He gave us invaluable information, and must see places, which enhanced our Sicily stay. Little did we know, one of the infamous ‘God Father’ shooting locations was in the next town over, in the little town of Savoca. Definitely one of the high lights of our trip. Overall, it’s a lovely place; very welcoming and cosy, with a great pool area. If we hadn’t had a couple of maintenance issues (which have now all been fixed), I would have given it 5 stars.

Dear beautiful Australian Family, thank You very much for your so kind and nice Review, we are happy that You enjoyed your Stay in Sept 2015 at VilladeiNobili, really it was an honor for us to have You our Guests! As you have seen you have found the Villa as we promise in its ad and also the special care we have for all our Guests! We thank you also for your suggestions that help us to do even better for our Guests! You are right, there were two small technical issues (that actually we did not know) but thanks to you we have immediately solved! As for our dear Guests who returned to the Villa, we hope to have You our Guests again! Best wishes to You Your sincerely Santi

“A villa as quirky and as charming as Sicily itself - and a bargain!”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2013

Elegant spacious villa with extensive space indoors and out for relaxing, entertaining, partying. Off the beaten track and so felt much more authentically like home. Lovely pool and amazing views down the valley and out across the sea. Road immediately before villa is steep and great for working off the extra calories of great Sicilian food and a few too many gelatos. Villa would make an ideal base for a group of friends looking to make the most of the space. Kitchen nicely stocked with all the basics plus good cooking supplies and equipment. Grounds surrounded by olive, lemon and olive trees. Fantastic value for money, would definitely recommend and revisit.

Dear, beautiful English Family, really thank You so much for your beautiful testimony, special that You grasped and described so well the beauty purely Sicilian of VilladeiNobili! It was an honor to have You as our Guests and it would be great to see You again soon! Our best wishes, Santi

“Wonderfully laid back stay”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2013

This villa proved to be an excellent base for our stay in Sicily, which was predominantly for a wedding in the nearby town of Taormina. We were met by the owner just after the toll road and followed him to the villa. We parked our car about a couple of minutes walk outside the property, as the final stretch of road to the villa is quite challenging being quite narrow and steep. Having said that, there is an easier route to the villa on foot that negates the final climb and takes just seconds. The villa itself is quirky, and was clearly a party venue in a former life as the mirror balls on the ceiling in one room will testify. It has two very spacious bedrooms upstairs, with the downstairs comprising of a well equipped kitchen, family room, an enormous dining room with a table that you could fit upwards of 20 at, an office, and a bathroom. One of the rooms also has its own balcony. The property is further supplemented by a self contained seperate building that has a bedroom, kitchen and toilet/shower. The villa is further served by a decent sized swimming pool, a terrace, bbq, sun lounger area, and great views out towards the sea/mountains. The village of Furci Siculo about 5 mins drive away is well served by shops and an excellent Pasticceria (cake shop) for picking up those much desired canoli on a daily basis. Despite most of our trip revolving around various functions in Taormina, we much preferred staying here at the villa, some 20 minutes away, not least as it is a much better cost effective option than the hideously expensive hotels in Taormina. Very nearby is the town of Savoca (just 5km) where you can indulge in some "Godfather" tourism, as several scenes from this film were shot, including one at a bar that still exists, and also very close is the restaurant village of Forza D'Agro, which has an excellent reputation as somewhere the locals go to eat. We had two excellent meals at two different places here, and were glad for the tip from the villa's agent Paolo, one word of advice though, go with an empty stomach, as you won't leave hungry. The A18 motorway is also only a handful of minutes away making the airport of Catania very accessible, and as a direct route to Messina, Siragus and the major attarcations of the east coast. I always prefer staying in villas to hotels as you have the option to self-cater and also even did a load of washing whilst I was there. Free Wi-Fi too was most appreciated. Finally, the owner, Guiseppe....what a star. Because taxis are so expensive in Italy, Giuseppe arranged prior to our trip to take us to Taormina and collect us, and proved himself particularly understanding and flexible on the return journey as the wedding itself went on much longer than expected, which we were ever so thankful for. Communicating with Guiseppe is easy enough if you have a phone/ipod/laptop to access google language translations, and our texts to him were answered promptly and in english. Thoroughly nice guy who will always be there when you need him to, whilst not being intrusive. This villa would be an ideal choice for those with transport looking to be near to Taormina (20mins on motorway), and would lend itself particularly towards families, or 2-3 couples looking to share costs. I loved in time in Sicily, a great island, and this villa certainly added to our throughly enjoyable stay.

Dear wonderful British Families! Thank you very much for your wonderful testimony of your stay in VilladeiNobili and in Sicily! It was an honor to have you as our Guests! We also are very grateful to you that you have so well explained some details of the Villa, such as its small final road about of m.150 to arrive at the property; To be fair, it is pointed out in the Villa advert that this road is a little difficult, but you have been very good to explain even better, that in fact you can also choose to park your car safely at parking about 100 meters from the Villa, therefore we believe it is important to know for Holidaymakers who may choose to arrive by car inside the Villa or get a 2-minute walk after parking the car. However, we also make that very likely in February or March 2014 this small road will be restored. But we point out that a driver of average skill may well take it with no problems. About our dear friend Giuseppe, thanks also to have highlighted his kindness and his willingness, it is very important to us that the owner of each Villa that we manage he has the greatest care of his Guests and the utmost care of his property that everything has to be perfect in order and functional! We hope soon to have the great pleasure to see You again! Our best wishes, arrivederci! Santi

“Isolated large villa with a/c and a private pool”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2013

We enjoyed our stay at this villa - we wanted a quite place away from the crowds and this place fit the bill. The drive to the villa can be a challenging, but after a couple of days it was ok. The pool and terrace is where we spent most time - there is outdoor eating and kitchen facilities. Upsides: local towns are very good value (not too touristy) and have everything u need including good restaurants. The pool the terrace and the hosts. Downside: road to villa - steep narrow and windy, no local store or bar - 2k to town, noise at night - dogs.

Dear beautiful British Family, first of all thank you very much for your kind testimony, we respect everything that you have written, we have found that you are very nice people and fair, really it was an honor to know you! As we said is true, yes, the last 150 meters of the road leading to the villa is quite inconvenient (and this, to be fair we have noted in the advert description), however, it is also true that a driver of average skill (like me for example, which is not as good as the pilot Hamilton) along this small road with any car quietly, with a little patience (actually instead of employing 1 minute, it takes 2 minutes). As you know the position of the villa is wonderful, aslo very safe and quiet, it is located in the peace of its hill overlooking the sea, in fact a Villa the beautiful thing, is that it is not in the confusion of city and for that they choose to have a quiet and nice to stay as a base. Like many villas, there are no shops attacked (if there were, who knows how many noises of cars, motorcycles and so many people!) Shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants / pizzerias, beach, etc., the more they are neighbors about km.1,5, also for this reason we strongly recommend that you have a car. Regarding the barking of a dog at night of a nearby other property (of course we have not dogs in our property), this is also true sometimes it happens to be considering in the country, but if you close the windows well and you turn on the air conditioner, almost, this dog away, you do not listen, but you will console your self in the morning, when you wake up, just listening to the chirping of birds! Our best wishes, Santi
