Location description from owner

The Western Cape region

South Africa's premier tourist destination, famous for its stunning coastline and breathtaking scenery. When Sir Francis Drake first rounded the Cape in 1580, he famously described it as "The most stately thing and the fairest Cape we saw in the whole circumference of the earth."...

September to March is the peak season for good weather and for tourism. High temperatures range from 19º C in September (highest recorded is 33º) to 27º C in February (highest recorded is 38º C). In spring and summer (September to February) there is little rain, and strong south-easterly winds occur during November and early December.

Tamboerskloof

Cape Town is a sophisticated, cosmopolitan city at the gateway to a majestic continent. Warmed by the African sun, the city is dominated by a towering table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring, rocky heights and lush valleys, where two great oceans converge.

The city is a melting pot of cultures and offers a wide range of activities that cater to the adrenalin junkie (sky-diving, mountaineering, shark-cage adventures) and those in pursuit of more leisurely activities, like visiting the beautiful wine lands of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek or exploring the city's rich history (The Castle, The Slave Lodge, The District Six museum, The Gold of Africa museum). Take a ferry out to Robben Island to see the conditions under which some of South Africa's more famous freedom fighters, including Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Albert Lithuli were imprisoned.

No visit to Cape Town is complete with out a trip around the peninsula, one of the most scenic drives in the world. Visit the Cape Point nature reserve, on the southern tip of the peninsula, and stroll among the penguin colony at Boulders Beach in Simonstown.

Cape Hideaway is situated in Tamboerskloof, one of the most conveniently located suburbs of the city, on the slopes of Signal Hill.

2 minute walk from the lively coffee shops of Kloof Street

“My home from home in CTown.”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2015

I stayed at the cutest little garden flat/apartment in Cape Town for 3 wonderful weeks. I've rented quite a few places in CT on my yearly visits to my home town and this was the best experience so far. The flat has everything i could wish for to make me feel at home. It was very quiet and perfectly situated. It is near to restaurants and pubs and i felt very safe walking alone in the Tamboerskloof area. The local Citibus stops within a 100m of the apartment and there were at least 4 cafes within a 5 minute walk where i ate when i did not feel like cooking breakfast or dinner. There's a range of supermarkets within walking distance and i was spoilt for choice by having Woolies, Checkers, Spar and an excellent wine shop just down the road. The washing machine was a bonus as i did not have to carry heavy washing to a laundromat. The patio was very comfortable for an evening glass of wine and also to eat breakfast while listening to the birds in the very well kept garden. All in all it was a wonderful experience and the friendly caretaker of the block and the maid (Gift) made my stay all the more enjoyable. I will definitly be returning next year as i've eventually found my home from home in the most beautiful city in the world. I would reccomend this apartment as never before have i joined the landlord for coffee or had more one on one contact with an owner. Gary was avaiable 24/7 if i needed anything. So i'll be back, its just to decide when and how i will fit in the time.

Hi Jess, I have only just seen this review! Thank you do much. I am looking forward to your next visit. Happy New Year!

“Wonderful cozy garden flat in a good location”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2014

I stayed at this flat for three and a half weeks between the middle of June 2014 through mid July. The landlord was always responsive to my needs, which I very much appreciated. The flat is small, but clean and has everything one would need. There is wi fi, television, a comfortable bed, an adequate kitchen and a cute courtyard. The location is great; it is within walking distance of museums and shops. It is a perfect spot for either a single person or a couple who like to spend a lot of time together. I did find that the building had a lot of construction going on and sometimes loud noises were heard early in the morning, but I assume that is a temporary condition.
