The Coach House is a stunning example of a Cotswold cottage at its best and being in the pretty village of Swinbrook is an added bonus. We love this one!
A restoration of converted stables and coach house and from outside you can still see signs of a former time, but step inside and, wow, it's huge, stylish and simply quite lovely.
Well furnished in a country manor style with quality furnishings which are enhanced by neutral creams and oak flooring. Luxuriously spacious with a vaulted ceiling featuring magnificent oak beams, exposed stonework and a large open fireplace. With dining for six, this is an ideal Cotswold cottage for a special occasion. The kitchen/ breakfast room is well equipped. Two tiered stairs lead to a large landing/bedroom area with two single beds* and to the absolutely huge, oak beamed bedroom. The 'Jack and Jill' bathroom has two doors - one from the bedroom and one from the landing/bedroom area.
The Coach House has its own secluded gravelled courtyard with garden furniture and is within the extensive grounds of The Old Vicarage with views across to the pretty 13th century Swinbrook church. The village is known for the 'Love in a Cold Climate' authoress Nancy Mitford and her famous family who are buried in the churchyard. Lord Redesdale, their father, lived in Swinbrook House and built the Georgian vicarage. Another 'claim to fame' is that of Downton Abbey and Lady Sybil's elopement!
Swinbrook is a pretty village in the Cotswolds with lovely period cottages, a popular 16th century pub with a great menu and bar - serves real ale, walks beside the Windrush (we particularly like to walk along to Burford, bring the dog, he'll love it too!) and to complete the picture, cricket on the green. What more could you ask for from an English country cottage!
Ground floor: Simply huge sitting room with a sofa, two armchairs and many personal touches, dining table and chairs for 6. Kitchen with all mod cons.
First floor : Large landing/bedroom area (please note, the stairs are open to the landing) with two single beds (£40 each pw/w'end), enormous bedroom with a king-size bed, bathroom with a bath and shower over - there are two doors into the bathroom, one from the landing/bedroom area and one from the bedroom.
Heating and electricity are included: centrally heated and an open fire (starter basket of logs provided).
Bed linen and towels provided.
32" digital TV with Freeview and radio, dvd, washer/drier, microwave, electric oven with hob and grill, fridge, freezer, dishwasher.
Pets by arrangement, £20 each per week or weekend.
Patio with furniture.
Local pub in the village, lovely river walks to Burford and Astall Leigh.
No smoking, please.
*Surcharge of £40 for each single bed as required (single beds on the landing are not suitable for young children, recommend 7 years plus because of the open stairs).

The Cotswolds region
From Windsor to the Welsh Borders our area offers a taste of what was and what is...fabulous properties of historic and architectural interest that sit alongside pretty tea rooms, gastro pubs, shops, restaurants etc etc!
In a simply stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are the Cotswolds with the unique honey-coloured stone, ancient woodlands and miles of rolling hills and over 3,000 miles of public footpaths. The rivers Windrush and Coln trickle their way through some of the prettiest Cotswold towns and villages you will ever come across, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury. Royal Berkshire and the Thames Valley are on the doorstep of the Capital. Stay in Windsor (with a royal neighbour!), be close to Henley-on-Thames famous for Henley Regatta or walk The Thames Path as the river meanders through rural villages, historic towns and peaceful water meadows before it reaches the Thames Barrier in the heart of London. From your 'own' front door you can explore the contrasts of Worcestershire, Herefordshire & Shropshire. Visit the theatres at Stratford-upon-Avon, walk the Ridgeway Path from the Thames in the west through to the atmospheric Chiltern Hills.
Our towns and villages optimise the English rural scene...cricket on the green, a glass of locally brewed beer, peace and quiet - lovely!
A quintessentially English village with period cottages, great pub, cricket and the River Windrush winding its way to nearby Burford. Swinbrook is tucked away only being reached by country lanes – not a traffic jam in site! Truly a Cotswold getaway.

We have stayed at this lovely converted coach house 5 times now. It is in a lovely setting, is hugely spacious and airy but yet cosy and homely at the same time. Fantastic walks on the doorstep. The small and beautiful town of Burford is a 10 minute drive. The owner is unobtrusive yet welcoming and accessible if you need her. A really fantastic property for a couple or for a small family.
