Located in the heart of the Cotswolds the cottage offers a perfect central base from which to explore the region.

Dating back to approximately 1595, the cottage has undergone an extensive renovation in 2016 and now blends traditional features of log burners, beams and stone mullion windows with a contemporary kitchen and newly fitted bathrooms. The property boasts 4 bedrooms, 2 bath/shower rooms and 2 reception rooms. The cottage is newly furnished throughout with high quality fixtures and fittings offering a modern and contemporary twist that complement a wealth of period features including log burning stoves, beams throughout and a magnificent vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom. There is a good size private garden with a paved patio and a small lawn that looks out over the stone wall to open countryside beyond.

Accommodation

The house sleeps a maximum of 8 people in 4 bedrooms. On entry you come in to the entrance nook with its traditional wood floor, log burning stove and two armchairs making it the perfect spot to read a book or enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple in front of the fire. Leading off the entrance nook, all located on the ground floor, are the sitting room which looks out to the front of the property, the kitchen/diner which looks out to the garden at the rear, the main family bathroom and the stairs to the first floor (please note that the stairs are quite steep in keeping with a property of this era. If any guests have restricted mobility please do enquire beforehand to ensure that access will not be a problem).

On the first floor is the Master bedroom and 3 further bedrooms – one double and two twins - along with a contemporary shower room that was newly fitted in 2016.

To the front of the property is a small, pretty cottage garden bordered by a traditional Cotswold stone wall. To the rear there are 7 steps from the bi-folding doors in the kitchen up to paved patio with a dining set for 6 people. During the summer months a gas barbecue is available. The garden has a number of borders that are well stocked and laid out in a cottage style.

Parking is located directly opposite the house to the front in parking bays that are shared with neighbouring properties. Parking is unallocated so it is on a first come, first served basis. “A Perfect Cottage in a Perfect Location”

Reviewed 24 Jan 2017

6 of us (all adults) stayed here for a long weekend as it was our Christmas present to each other. On arrival our first impression was is it going to be big enough but once through the front door, into the hallway which had a large open fireplace with a log burner in, it opened up like the Tardis. 4 good sized bedrooms, a large, well equipped kitchen/diner. A large sitting room with plenty of comfortable seating for 8, another open fireplace and log burner, large TV and a selection on board games. There was a welcome basket in the kitchen which provided us with Bread, Butter, Milk, Jam, Bacon & Eggs and a bottle of wine. Despite it's age this property is extremely comfortable and maintained to a very high standard. There is a good sized rear garden, overlooking open fields, with a large gas barbecue. Little Swell is only 1 mile from Stow on the Wold which has plenty of places to eat & drink as well as a couple of takeaways. We ate at The Porch House and would have no problem recommending it. If you prefer to stay local The Golden Ball is only 100 yds from the cottage and serves good quality pub food. We would not hesitate returning to Leys View Cottage.

“Amazing break in the country!”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2017

Couldn't of asked for a more ideal stay in the country. The cottage was even better than the pictures and had everything we needed! Michael was more than helpful and communicated everything very accurately and timely! He even left us some bread, eggs and wine on arrival which was such a lovely thought!! Overall I could not fault our stay and I will definitely be returning and recommending it to others!

“Immaculate house and garden, great location, well equipped with everything you need”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2016

We stayed in Leys View cottage for four nights and thought the house was fantastic. It has recently been renovated to a high standard and the owners have made sure the space is well laid out given the age of the property. It is a stunning house with all the features you'd expect from a Cotswold cottage. The location is fantastic and there is a nice local pub just up the road. Whilst Lower Swell is a small village the links to Bourton and Moreton are excellent and you can be there in no time. There are endless things to keep you occupied in the Cotswolds and we never get tired of visiting. Michael's communication and instructions are excellent and he returned our depsit promptly. We actually managed to comfortable fit 6 adults and four kids so space is not a problem. I would highly recommend this house or Michael's other house (Nethercote in Bourton which we stayed in last May).
