Description

Llanelen Farm cottage, set in an elevated position overlooking the Lougher Estuary and the unspoiled North Gower countryside, provides a relaxing retreat after a hard day of fun, the whole of Gower is easily accessible by foot , bike, horseback, or car. On entering the open plan downstairs you will be wowed by the stunning views through the patio doors whatever the season. The beamed ceiling and wooden stairs add to the cottage feel, yet it is light and airy in summer but with the underfloor heating and log burning stove has a warm cosy feel in winter. Situated up an unmade lane about 2 miles from the nearest village of Llanrhidian. Attached to the main farmhouse with a converted barn next door our location is tranquil and beautiful but only about a 30 minute drive from the city of Swansea and all its attractions and Mumbles with its promenade along Swansea bay. Bring your bikes or walking boots to explore the surrounding countryside or take a short drive to one of Gower's many

Location description from owner

The South Wales region

South Wales is an area rich in history from prehistoric to the industrial period. Swansea was the copper capital of the world and pioneered a new copper making process. Today it is a city with all the amenities including an up to date leisure centre and the largest indoor market in Wales.
Gower is ideally situated for exploring the whole of South Wales either East towards Neath with its caves and Waterfalls and Cardiff Wales,s capital, or West to Pembroke and Oakwood Park or Folly Farm.
Gower was the first place in Britain to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty,
It has a rich and varied landscape, ranging from a spectacular coastline with the more sandy beaches to the South and more rugged marshes in the north. Woodland, expanses of common and farmland make up the interior of the peninsula, and being only 13 miles long and 8 miles wide it has a lot packed into a small area. It is a magical place full of myths and legends of secrets to be discovered and yet is only a short drive from the city of Swansea, with the LC2, shops, museums and cinemas. Gower has a beach for every one weather you are a family wanting a safe place to play and swim or would prefer a more isolated spot away from the crowd and all are within a short distance of each other. For the active there are Water sports, pony trekking, archery, walking or cycling. For a more relaxing day stop off at one of the local Pubs for a drink or a meal, or visit one of the historical sites in the area such as Castles or neolithic graves.

Swansea

Llanrhidian is on the north side of Gower over looking the Lougher Estuary. It is a bird watchers paradise for water birds especially in the winter when they migrate from colder climes to overwinter here. It has a garage with general store, and there is a larger supermarket about 5 minutes drive away in Penclawdd which also has a chemist two butchers selling local produce and a surf shop.
The cottage is about 2 miles away from Llanrhidian on Welshmoor common a site of special scientific interest due to the rare butterflies found there.
