Description

This is a detached house in an elevated position in Swanage with wonderful views overlooking Swanage Bay, Old Harry Rocks and the Isle of Wight. The garden in the front and to the side of the house is laid to lawn and at the back of the house is a Purbeck stone patio bordered by flower beds. Here there is a table with an umbrella and matching chairs and there is a BBQ. The patio is sheltered and in warm weather is a sun trap. Swanage has a lovely, child friendly sandy beach and Studland is easily accessible. There is lots for children to do including crabbing, boat trips and searching for fossils on the Jurassic Coast. Corfe Castle is nearby and the heritage steam train goes there and back regularly from Swanage town centre. Poole Harbour, the second largest natural harbour in the world, is within easy reach with its well-established water sports activities for beginners to the advanced. These include wind and kite surfing, kayaking, wake boarding, power boating and sailing.

These include wind and kite surfing, kayaking, wake boarding, power boating and sailing. There are several golf courses nearby including the Isle of Purbeck Golf Course. Each year Swanage holds a regatta and there are beer and jazz festivals and firework displays throughout the summer. On the first floor is a balcony which is a perfect spot to view the firework displays and the Red Arrows. Upstairs there is a double with ensuite, a room with twin beds that can be fixed together and a room with bunk beds. There is also a separate bathroom with a bath and walk in shower and a separate loo. Downstairs is a separate sitting room with a double sofa bed. It has access through the main sitting room and the kitchen and French windows onto the patio. There is a cloakroom on the ground floor. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a Nespresso machine and an American fridge freezer. There is a large screen TV in the sitting room and another, with a games console in the parlour. There are lots of videos and games in case the weather is inclement. Please Note: there have been building works behind the house for the past year. However, completion and sale is due in June/July so any disruption should be minimal. I will keep the website updated.

The Isle of Purbeck region

Dorset is a very beautiful county with a dramatic coastline and lots to see and do. There are the ancient ruins of Corfe Castle, easily reached by the heritage steam train from Swanage. Weymouth is about 30 minutes drive away and was the venue for the Olympic sailing in 2012. Searching for fossils is a very popular pastime and dinosaur footprints are regularly discovered. There are many walks both circular and along sections of the Coast Path. Also there are many pubs serving local beer and locally sourced meals.

West Country

Swanage is situated on the 95 mile long Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site. It has a lovely, child-friendly sandy beach with all the amenities including locally made ice cream and a Punch and Judy show. There is a week long regatta and there are jazz and beer festivals locally during the summer. There are local riding stables, beach riding available except for during the summer season. Also several golf courses within easy access. There are municipal tennis courts and pitch and putt in the town. From Swanage there are boat trips, both for sightseeing and mackerel fishing.

“Fantastic house, great views, peaceful location.”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2016

Well appointed house that soon felt like home, excellent location handy for the town and also Durlston Country Park. Amazing views over Swanage Bay towards Old Harry Rock and Ballard Down. Plenty to do in and around Swanage to keep the kids entertained with a clean family friendly beach and plenty of choice of places to eat out.
