Location description from owner

The Isle of Purbeck region

Swanage is situated on a beautiful sheltered bay with a sandy beach and views to the Isle of Wight. It is surrounded by Dorset countryside, the Purbeck hills and the Jurassic coast.

Swanage vies with the Isle of Wight for the sunniest spot in the UK due to its peninsular position on the South Coast.

West Country

The Swanage steam railway to Corfe Castle and visits to Monkey World at Wool sem to be very popular with our guests. We like the stunning coastal scenery, the sandy family beaches and especially the remote and wild beaches at Chapmans Pool, Worbarrow Bay and Durdle Door.

Studland Bay and Old Harry Rocks provide the most magnificent sandy beach on the South Coast. with scenery views, space and sand dunes.

“Perfect venue for a large family celebration”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2014

I have just spent a long weekend at the Quarterdeck with my family in order to celebrate my husband and I completing the South West Coast Path National Trail. This property was perfectly situated for us as we could walk straight out from the house to South Haven Point to complete our challenge, and then catch the bus back. The house is extremely well equipped and comfortable and we particularly appreciated the lovely welcome pack. We also made good use of the barbecue and outside furniture on one evening with the weather being very kind for the end of September. The house feels like a much loved family home and we felt at home as soon as we arrived.

Thank you for sharing your experience and we are really happy you had a good weekend. Congatulations on completing the SW coast path. Alot of up and down walking there.

“We had the most amazing stay!”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2014

We stayed at the house as a group on 10 ladies on a hen party. The house was key to the experience as we were hosting a lot from the venue. We could not have been happier! We catered for dinner and breakfast whilst there and the Kitchen provided everything we needed and the dinning room was perfect for 10. The views were lovely, the rooms all decent sizes gave us all plenty of room and the lounge made a nice communal area. From booking to end the owners have kept me informed of everything we needed to know and the caretaker was very helpful when I called to ask a couple of questions. We really did have a fantastic experience! We had glorious weather which always helps but I think even if it had rained we'd have been very happy entertaining in the house! Would definitely go back!

“Fab!”

Excellent accommodation with everything you could want/need - even comfortable beds (& I am very fussy!). The welcome pack was a nice touch. Close to all facilities - town/beach etc. Ideal for extended families or several couples. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again!

“Great house and location.”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2012

We would recommend the Quarterdeck because of its size and location. The house is well equipped and comfortable and easy to relax in. A 5 minute walk takes you to to the centre of Swanage and the steam railway which can you watch from the balcony.

“one of the best”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2012

This is a marvellous house within an easy 5 minute walk to the beach (10 mins back). Beautifully equipped with everything you could want, light and airy, great garden, fantastic shower (!). We want to buy it!

“we wanted a special family treat - and that is just what we got.”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2012

Prior to our visit, we did feel that The Quarterdeck might be rather over-priced but it was such a lovely home for a week. We couldn't fault it.
