Description

Our house is a typical Italian home with entrance directly onto the quiet street, with ample parking. There is a garden (with fig trees) and patio area complete with BBQ, loungers and extendible table, chairs and parasol. There is a downstairs cloakroom/wc just off the entrance hall leading to the large kitchen/dining room with cantina below and side entrance to garden area. On the first floor there is a well equipped lounge with Juliet balcony and stairs leading to the 2nd floor bedrooms and house bathroom. The house is well situated for all kinds of activities including skiing (40 mins), walking in the Appenines, beach (40 mins) and sightseeing (Rome 1.5 hours). The Citta d'Arte of Sulmona only 15 mins away with an abundance of shops, restaurants, museums, architecture galore!

The Abruzzo region

Coast/Beach
45 mins drive away there are hundreds of kilometres of stunning, Adriatic beaches. Pescara is a fabulous resort along with Francavilla del mare just a few km further along the coast. From this coast, seasonally, there is a ferry to Croatia.

Golf
Only forty minutes to the Cerreto di Miglianico Pescara Golf & Country Club, The 18-hole-course is in a good location close to the sea and is equally playable for both beginners and experienced players.Skiing

Skiing is good and varied, all at prices less than one would expect to pay in the Alps. There are at least 7 ski resorts within an hours drive of Corfinio, the closest being Campo di Giove (25 mins) and the largest being Roccaraso (40 mins). February and March are usually the best months to ski in the Apennines.

Sulmona

Special Interest Holidays

Abruzzo is a popular destination for walkers and mountaineers along with mountain biking (can be hired locally). There is an abundance of wildlife including lynx, bears, golden eagles and wolves. There is also white water rafting available within an hours drive of Corfinio. There are also several horse riding and trekking establishments in the area.

There are many famous wineries producing, predominantly, the Montepulcianio d'Abruzzo wines. Several of these offer tours of the vineyards, the nearest only a few miles away in Vittorito.

The environment is generally stunning, offering lots of opportunity for those with an interest in photography.

Obviously, for the 'culture vultures', the area is steeped in history. In fact, Corfinio was the first capital of Italia until its assimilation into the Roman Empire after a short war in 91BC. There is still evidence in and around the village of this former ancient capital of the Pelignan tribes.
