Stuckton

Stuckton is a hamlet in the New Forest National Park of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Fordingbridge, which lies approximately 1 mile (1.7 km) north-west from the village.

Stuckton is a hamlet in the civil parish of Hyde. It is located in the Avon valley and is situated around Ditchend Brook. The western side of the hamlet is outside of the New Forest National Park.[1] The hamlet contains several Victorian buildings, and also has a small chapel sited behind the old post office.[1] Stuckton is known locally for the 2* Michelin restaurant called The Three Lions.

Fordingbridge is on the western edge of the New Forest surrounded by rolling countryside and places of interest yet being within 60 minutes of Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, Winchester Cathedral, the South coast and the Isle of Wight.

Fordingbridge is a town and civil parish in Hampshire on the banks of the River Avon. The first Great Bridge, from which the town received its present name, was built in mediaeval times, and is upstream from the ford. The bridge is a major feature of the town with its seven graceful arches, which can be seen very easily from the town’s large riverside park where one can walk along the riverbank draped with willows and waterside plants. Close by is a children’s play area, secluded memorial gardens, parks and sports playing fields. A bronze statue of the controversial painter, Augustus John, stands on the banks of the Avon near the Great Bridge.

Not far from the High Street is the parish church of St. Mary the Virgin which has some typical Norman characteristics. The Fordingbridge Museum, which houses local history exhibits, and the Visitor Information Centre are located in King's Yard. There is also a Roman villa in the nearby village of Rockbourne, which is open to visitors during the summer. The local comprehensive school is The Burgate School And Sixth Form Centre, which is situated in Burgate, a small hamlet to the north of the town.

Fordingbridge Hospital is a small community hospital on the site of a Victorian workhouse. Most of the old buildings remain but the inpatient ward is a more recent addition. The town's medical centre is on the same site in Bartons Road

Since 1982 Fordingbridge has been twinned with Vimoutiers in Normandy. Fordingbridge is also home to Fordingbridge Turks FC, one of the 50 oldest football clubs in England, established circa 1868. The Turks name seems to derive from wishing to emulate the determination shown by Ottoman forces at Siege of Plevna.[

“Wonderful.”

Reviewed 9 Apr 2017

Wonderful setting, immaculate accomodation. Perfect for our family/friends who stayed. We booked the house and cottage and had a great time. The 3 acre paddock was great at the back of the property as we all played rounders. The trampoline a great asset as was the hot tub, especially after cycling in the Newforest. The only concern was the water pressure a little low for the showers but otherwise fantastic stay. Would definately stay again if we are in the area in the future. Ideal location for many activities including Beaulieu.

“Great 'rental', ideal for kids and 'grown ups' alike !”

We've tried a few 'rentals' across the south of England for our annual family 'get togethers' but Forest Meadows takes a lot of beating. It has all you would need to make a family weekend enjoyable for all 'ages' . Plenty of space in the two well appointed/adjoining houses, Very large and comfortable 'quality' beds. Plenty of hot water for good showers/bath so no one had to 'wait'. The two 10 year old's had their own room (and XBox). a trampoline to jump on and space to put their football skills on display. 'Grandad happily BBQ'd for the large group and we were able to 'eat outside' due to lovely weather. A few minor 'maintenance' issues need addressing and I'm sure the owner is aware of these but they did not detract in any way from a great weekend. No complaints and we hope to return next year

“Perfect forest retreat”

“Great place to stay”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2016

Lovely place to stay in a beautiful location. Cabin was bright and clean and had plenty of space. Bathrooms nice with lots of hot water and bed really comfortable. We were lucky with the weather and able to use the BBQ and sit on the patio. Hot tub was wonderful and made our stay a real treat. Some minor decoration sill to be completed but did not affect our stay. Would definitely recommend this place to friends.

“Well appointed accomodation in a beautiful setting”

Reviewed 19 Oct 2016

The accommodation was very comfortable in all respects. Everything worked, (with the exception of one wash basin plug that didn't fit), hot water, warm rooms, clean and presentable. Outside there are extensive grasslands to walk in and great pubs within walking distance. Quiet and enclosed property with privacy.

“WONDERFUL!!”

Reviewed 19 Sep 2016

This lovely property was booked for a landmark Birthday and it certainly did not disappoint! It was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms and a washing machine and tumble dryer. The scenery was stunning and the hot tub worth every penny. There are some fabulous walks to be enjoyed. We went to a local pub (the Forrester's Arms) on the Saturday evening, which I would also highly recommend. I really can't recommend this property highly enough for groups of friends, it made my 40th a real treat, with lots of lovely memories created. Many thanks to Ian and we'll definitely be back.

“Beautiful place to stay.”

Had a problem with one of the showers, this was rectified the following morning by a very efficient plumber. 1st class communications. Would highly recommend.
