“The house was perfect for our needs”

Reviewed 25 Nov 2016

We came in the winter needing a home from home while visiting my dad who lives in Hyne Town House Care Home in the village. This house actually backs onto their property so it was closer than we could ever have hoped for. It was a perfect place for him to come and spend the day and evenings with us, with accessible facilities and comfortable seating. The underfloor heating kept us cozy and the log stove was delightful in the evenings. The bedrooms were a good size with comfortable beds and the upper bedroom had a beautiful view from which to watch the sunrise over the ocean in the mornings. I locked myself out on arrival and the lovely neighbors quickly located a key for us and we were back in the house within minutes. The kitchen was very well equipped and though we were skeptical about the "drying room" feeling sure we would miss not having a tumble dryer, it did dry the clothes overnight with no problem. A couple of very minor things- no ashbucket meant we couldn't clean the stove before we left, the downstairs shower could certainly use a curtain as the current arrangement didn't keep the water off the floor. Half way through our stay a blown light bulb took out the trip switch for the double bedroom porch and outside lights... the trips were not accessible to us and there was no response from the housekeepers number. It was a bit of a nuisance, especially loading dad into the car in the dark evenings, but certainly nothing that would stop us from recommending the house to anyone. We plan to return ourselves in the spring.

Thank you for your nice review and pleased you enjoyed your stay. It is a shame you didn't call us as we are nearby and would have popped in to sort the lights out for you. We will pass the other points on to the owners who will deal with them and look forward to seeing you again. Kind regards Dart Valley Cottages
