Property Guestbook extracts:
We had a wonderful time in Castello - it was a great location (no need for a car), great view and full of those "little" touches which make it truly a home away from home, so thank you...
Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our time in Stresa. Your apartment was so lovely and spacious, we really enjoyed breakfasting on the balcony...
The apartment is ideally located being very close to the centre but far enough away so you can only hear the church bells...
We did appreciate how well equipped and furnished it was, though the wonderful weather meant that the balcony, with its stunning view across the lake, turned out to be the ‘room’ we used the most. We really liked Stresa too – it was just what we wanted, a great place to relax but with plenty of ‘sights’ nearby.
Thanks again, we had a lovely holiday and were very keen on Stresa. We tried a number of restaurants in town but our favourite has to be Pappagallo, for the food and atmosphere and friendly staff.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your apartment, what lovely views of the mountains with the snow on top!

The Lake Maggiore region
In the North West of Piedmont a short distance from the border of Switzerland Lake Maggiore is the second largest lake in Italy, after Lake Garda. It is a place where Mediterranean nature and a mild climate blend with spectacular alpine scenery.
The area is rich in beautiful buildings, colourful lush gardens and is enhanced by the delightful Borromean Islands with their equally impressive Italian architecture and gardens. Well known towns of international fame line the shores on both sides of the Lake and can be easily reached by ferry boats that make regular trips throughout the day all year round.
The Cities of Milan and Turin are short day trips from the Lake and excursions can also be taken to nearby Lake Orta and the home of the Matterhorn mountain in Zermatt, Switzerland.
There are many activities that take place around the Lake including water skiing, sailing, canoeing and swimming.
Lake Maggiore is a magical place that combines modern facilities with the classical charm of a bygone era making it one of Northern Italy's finest holiday destinations.
In 2015 Milan hosts an International EXPO from the beginning of May until the end of October. The train station in Stresa offers easy access to the EXPO site within approximately 45mins.
Stresa is one of the best known resorts on Lake Maggiore and is noted for its majestic architecture, its beauty and its cosmopolitan atmosphere. It offers warm & friendly Italian hospitality with its lakeside promenade and old town square with colourful cafes and shops. It is an elegant and charming town with its narrow cobbled streets full of hidden treasures.
Stresa lies at the foot of the Mottarone mountain which can be reached by cable car from one end of the town. The top of the mountain offers spectacular views including the highest peak in Italy, Monte Rosa , as well as the surrounding area.
One of the most enchanting aspects however lies on the lake itself on the Borromean islands, each with their own individual character and history. Isola Madre and Bella house exquisite gardens and palaces. Pescatori is a local fishing village still in operation. On land there are many other gardens to visit both in Stresa at Villa Pallavicino and Pallanza at the Villa Taranto a short ferry ride away.
You can also travel on the 'Centrovalli' mountain railway into Switzerland to Locarno, taking in breathtaking alpine views, and return to Stresa by ferry boat visiting any number of the towns that line the shore along the way.
There are numerous walks to suit everybody on Mottarone or the nature walks that contour the lake in between nearby villages. For the more adventurous you can book to stay overnight in a refuge in the nearby Val Grande – one of the wildest national parks in Italy.
The Italian ski slopes can be reached in around 45 minutes and the famous Swiss resorts of Zermatt and Saas Fee in a couple of hours by car. There are also numerous popular golf courses in the area.
Stresa hosts a number of cultural events throughout the year, the most famous being the celebrated International classical Music Festival held from July – September.

We spent two weeks at Castello and really enjoyed it! We loved the apartment. It was light, bright, clean and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and the view from the balcony was even better than the photos. The beds were very comfortable and the bath adequate. The walk to town was great; the walk back up the hill was a bit much for us but probably good for us. Stresa is a jewel. The shopkeepers are friendly and helpful. The reastaurants are great, especially Mama Mia's. We hope to come back someday!

"A Lovely Apartment in a Lovely Resort"
We had a lovely stay, celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The apartment has a wonderful view of the lake, is located in a clean, well maintained block in an elevated position so we were kept fit walking up and down the small hill every day. The apartment is light and airy, clean, tidy, well equiped with ample space and is perfect for the main town at the bottom of the hill. If you don't have a car everything is within walking distance with the main ferry stops 10 minutes away for the Borromean Islands or further afield. The owners provided an excellent binder full of where to go, leaflets, local maps etc. and any communication with them prior to going on holiday and coming back was very good. Stresa has plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes, some offering free wifi and is probably the best resort on the lake. There is a promenade and gardens and we strolled along it every evening after our evening meal. There is also a cable car going up the mountain at the west of the town. You don't really need to leave the town if you don't want to. The only negatives I would say with regards the apartment is the mattress is firm and the shower head and rail needs attention, but if we were to return I would have no hesitation in booking this apartment again, it would definitely be my first choice.

"Nice apartment, spacious, well equipment, comfortable, good location."
We really enjoyed our stay at Castello. It was an excellent base for our stay as it was close to town without being disturbed by it. The view of the lake was beautiful and we ate out on the balcony every opportunity to enjoy the view. It is quite an uphill walk to the apartment especially in the heat, but not something that would put us off. We loved the feel of Stresa's old grandeur and the bustling square and took advantage of the boat trips. The ice cream is the best !

"A stylish, spacious,modern, well-equipped apartment over-looking the lake."
The two best features of this apartment are it's spaciousness and the terrace which gives a lovely view of the lake. Breakfast in the morning sun listening to the birds was a joy. It was very pleasant to come back after a hard day's sight-seeing and sprawl on the two generous sized settees before our evening meal. We didn't need to use the cooker, the local supermarket sells everything you'd need for a deli-style supper. Although the apartment is only a 10 minute walk from the town, it is in a quiet elevated position amongst the greenery. My only criticism is that I personally feel that the owners should invest in a couple of new mattresses.
