Location description from owner

The England region

With easy road, rail and airport access, it is the perfect place for a vacation or short break. Using the lodge as a base, you can enjoy the delights not only of Shakespeare's home town, but also the nearby surrounding shire counties of Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. Enjoy Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds to the south, Worcester and the Malverns to the west, Warwick Castle and Henley-in-Arden to the north, and all within easy access of Stratford itself.
You can enjoy the Boat Festival in July with dancing, live bands, craft stalls, fabulous food stalls, its a great weekend for the children as there is a Firework display and all the boats and barges all lit up at night trying to out do each other traveling down the river

The Food festival is on in September with famous chefs on hand to show us how it is supposed to be done!!! With wonderful food and wine to sample

There is a whole wealth of enjoyable scenery and fascinating places to visit in the Stratford areas. Stratford is a small town surrounded by glorious rural countryside, the colour of which changes from deep greens of spring and winter to the golden harvest yellow of summer and autumn. There are many beautiful small villages each with their own charm and history. The roads and byways are quiet, the natives are friendly and the inns plentiful.

To the South – The Cotswolds. The hills of the Cotswolds of Gloucestershire start just south of Stratford with Chipping Campden, an historic major town. This is the old market town, where woolen merchants traded for hundreds of years. Unaffected by the industrial revolution, you can enjoy old England as it was since the 1700's. The Cotswolds are famous for the honey-blond stone buildings. The whole town of Chipping Campden is built of it, and is a typical example of the entire district.

Stratford-upon-Avon

In the lodge there is an events calender for you to browse with all details and phone numbers of everything going on in Stratford and surrounding areas, including fun things for the children.

Apart from being steeped in history, Stratford-upon-Avon boasts a fantastic shopping, dining and entertainment experience.

From designer boutiques to home made craft and souvenir shops. Restaurants and Bistros to Riverboat dining, and of course the world famous National Shakespeare featuring legends of stage and screen.

Whether you are after a light lunch or classic cuisine you will find many alternatives to fine dining in and around Stratford-upon-Avon. There are many award winning restaurants providing a wide selection of food to suit all tastes, with a price range to suit every pocket. There are great restaurants such as:- Barasset Barn, Bensons of Stratford, Strada, George Town & Quarto's.

“A delightful wooden lodge overlooking the river avon”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2013

The lodge is the height of luxury beautifully furnished with everything you need. The view is simply lovely the ideal spot for a relaxing visit to Stratford. I have stayed in most of the hotels in the town but the lodge is our favourite place. The care and attention paid to guests by the owners is outstanding. We visit every year and always enjoy it. Local restaurants and pubs are some of the very best. I would highly recommend riverview

“Everything you could wish for......”

We were met at the gate by Irene, the owner, and taken to Riverview Lodge. We had gone as a 30th Wedding Anniversary gift from Mum in Law, and we took her along with us. We had an absolutely perfect break. The Lodge is home from home with direct access to and lovely views along the river. Stratford is a 5 min drive away. Plenty of places to eat out although we just made the best of the heatwave and ate most meals out on the decking. Will definately make a return visit at some point I am sure.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review it is much appreciated and look forward to seeing you again in the near future Irene

“Bliss”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2011

I first stayed here with family in 2007 and we've been back every year (apart from 1). I have only positive things to say about River Haven lodge. The lodge has everything and more that you could need for your stay. The owners are extremely welcoming and there is always cake and a bottle of wine for your arrival :0) It’s close to the town which is lovely in itself but we were just as happy to sit out on the decking (weather permitting) and watch the world go by. I would recommend the lodge to anyone and I hope to go back again next year.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to send a review, it was great to see how much you enjoyed our lodge over the years. It makes all our effort worthwhile to see you had a great holiday
