Description

Our holiday cottage is peacefully situated just outside Stratford upon Avon, in rural village of Wilmcote. The lovely Spanish style family bathroom has a bath and a separate large luxurious shower. There is a spacious and very well equipped kitchen with quality appliances including oven, ceramic hob, washing machine and dishwasher. Beautiful porcelain tiles cover the whole of the ground floor(with cosy underfloor heating) and combined with the skylights and abundant glazing, gives the cottage a lovely light and airy atmosphere.

At the rear of the cottage is the lounge/dining area with vaulted ceiling, spanned by a beautiful oak beam where you can relax on stylish, modern and high quality sofas. Here, light streams in through the large pyramid shaped patio doors leading to your own private south-facing patio, complete with BBQ and garden furniture.

Location description from owner

The England region

Wilmcote is ideally located for touring Shakespeare Country and the lovely Cotswolds. Stratford Upon Avon is 3 miles away, a bustling market town and home to The Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the birthplace of William Shakespeare; England's greatest poet and playwright.

Wilmcote is most famous for Mary Arden's House, the childhood Tudor home of Shakespeare's mother, only 0.5 mile distant.

This is an old village and is listed in the Domesday Book of 1086, but little is known about it between then and the sixteenth century. The Stratford-upon-Avon Canal in 1816 was routed through Wilmcote because of its quarries.

Stratford-upon-Avon

The Historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon boasts the Birthplace & the 5 family homes of William Shakespeare & his family . Experience the 16th. century life with a day out at Mary Ardens Farm in our village of Wilmcote. Learn about Williams early life & see the beautiful romantic thatched cottage of his wife Anne Hathaway.
The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, recently reopened after extensive refurbishment, is in nearby Stratford where Shakespeare's plays are magnificently presented.

Englands' finest medieval castle, Warwick Castle, is just 15 miles distant. Explore the castle, the dungeons and the fabulous extensive grounds.

There are many outstanding National Trust houses and gardens nearby, including Charlecote Park, Packwood House, Baddesley Clinton, Upton House and Coughton Court. Ragley Hall Estate and Gardens are 10 minutes by car.

Within a short drive are the beautiful Cotswold villages of Chipping Campden, Broadway and Mickleton (home of the Pudding Club). There are the beautiful Hidcote Manor Gardens nearby, Batsford Arboretum, Moreton-in-Marsh with its famous market.

There are many excellent traditional country pubs and fine restaurants serving good food and locally brewed real ales. We will be happy to advise on the best venues to suit your taste.

Birmingham city centre, with its stylish shopping malls, restaurants and Symphony Hall, is about 40 minutes by train. The National Exhibition Centre is approximately 40 minutes drive.

Three Counties Show, Cheltenham and Stratford Racecourses are just some of the additional places to visit.

For those who fancy a more active holiday there's horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, horse racing, fishing, walking, cycling, and there is even gliding at the local gliding club at Snitterfield or microlighting at nearby Long Marston airfield.

“Great second stay”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2015

I stayed here for the second time whilst attending a course. Lovely holiday home, thoughtfully designed. Compact but everything has been thought of. Very clean( I am fussy!!). Owners are very helpful and friendly. I felt very safe whilst staying here. A great base.

“Fabulous accommodation in excellent location.”

Little Longfields is a beautifully finished cottage, contemporay and cosy and with everything you could need. Sarah made the booking and arrival process so easy and was so welcoming. The cottage was spotless. We had great weather and enjoyed the canal walk into Stratford. The cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the local area. We definitely intend to return.

“perfect weekend getaway”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2014

Warm friendly welcome, cottage is as described and the location is nice and peaceful. We have stayed here twice and We will definitely be back for another relaxing weekend soon. Great local shop with helpful staff nearby. stratford is a short drive away and a great place to visit.

“Great, peaceful boutique cottage!!”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2013

I took my wife and 7 month old for a long weekend over Easter for a little 'Family Time'. The cottage was fantastic and very comfortable with everything we needed to feel at home. We would like to thank Sarah for being 'on hand' for anything to make our stay more relaxing.....even though she was on a break herself!! Location was good with a very pleasant walk along the canal in to Stratford upon Avon and the train station was also very handy. My wife and I would definitely like to return in the future.

“Very cosy and comfortable!”

Reviewed 28 Dec 2012

Sarah, our host, was very welcoming and attentive during our weeks stay. The accommodation was stylish, spacious and well equipped and the under floor heating ensured that we were always warm and comfortable despite the grim weather outside. The cottage is well placed for Stratford and visiting surrounding villages and towns such as Warwick and Leamington. We would definitely stay again if visiting the area and recommend it to others without hesitation. Thank you Sarah for your kind attention during our stay.

“Just what we wanted”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2012

Very good use of space to create a comortable, modern property in a really good location for visiting Stratford and the surrounding area. The owners were very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would highly recommend this cottage.

“A real gem of a find.”

Reviewed 28 May 2012

A beautifully presented property in a lovely village within walking distance of two pubs and the train service into Stratford which takes approximate 10-15 minutes. Sarah & Richard were the perfect hosts and nothing was ever too much trouble. We found the area perfect for walking & cycling, having some of the best countryside in Warwickshire on the doorstep.

“A perfect Christmas getaway”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2012

Sarah and Richard made us feel very welcome. Sarah ensured we had everything we needed and more... which included 'special touches' such as Christmas lights/decorations and a real tree (amongst others) that made it an extra special Christmas break for us. The property was really lovely; it was ultra clean and tidy (something you really appreciate) plus nice and warm and cosy, so made you feel at home and very relaxed! It also had a nice big shower and lots of room for storage (which was good for us as we had our Christmas presents with us)! The location was great too... walking distance to two pubs and also the canal for either a short stroll or a long walk into Stratford itself. We would definitely recommend this property and want to go back there again one day.

“Peaceful, well-equipped, spotless and a great location.”

Little Longfields proved to be the perfect weekend getaway for us. The cottage was immaculate and perfectly equipped for a short break; it really wasn’t missing anything that you would have at home (even a comfortable bed). It was small enough to be cosy but it was still spacious. It was peaceful and tucked away from any roads but the village was close for the quaint grocery shop and local pub. Wilmcote train station was only a short walk away which meant it was ideal to explore the local area, we did Warwick, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Leamington-Spa. The hosts were warm and friendly; as was the property – we were nice and toasty all weekend. Little Longfields maybe new but it still felt like a country home. We were able to park our car just outside the cottage which meant for easy unloading etc. It is next to the family home but is completely secluded, including the little courtyard. Well worth a visit!

“Like staying with friends at their home.”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2011

To walk into our accomodation and find it so clean and tidy was a delight to us both. Richard and Sarah made us both feel that we come to visit our friends and nothing was too much for them. Constuctive observations: Duvet needed to be 9tog and 4.5tog so that we could adjust our temperature. Also need a breadboard and bread knife to compliment a excellently equipted kitchen area.
