Description from owner

Description

Situated in Strathlachlan on the shores of Loch Fyne, Argyll and about 1 hour 15 min drive from Glasgow Airport Castle Lachlan is a great holiday location both for families and groups of friends.

Our setting and surroundings makes Castle Lachlan a very attractive setting for your wedding. The castle was used by bass player Dougie Payne of Travis and Actress Kelly McDonald for their wedding.

The house, which overlooks the Loch, is the home of Euan and Lisa Maclachlan and their family. It has been cleverly divided so that the more splendid southwest facing front is now available for letting on a selfcatering basis.

We hold a licence as a civil wedding venue. Small wedding parties can be entertained in the house. There is plenty of room outside for a marquee.

The seclusion and proximity to Glasgow lend themselves to business meetings and entertaining.

The Castle Lachlan Estate has been used several times as a location for film, television and photography.

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

Strathlachlan is part of the Cowal peninsula, a wild and beautiful corner of Argyll with quiet roads, amazing views and a wealth of outdoor activities on offer including golf, fishing, walking, sailing, horse-riding, cycling and wildlife-watching.

Cowal and its neighbour, the Isle of Bute, are home to some of Scotlands best visitor destinations including Mount Stuart, Argyll Forest Park, the Benmore Botanic Gardens (a branch of Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden) with its spectacular Avenue of Giant Redwoods, and Ardkinglas Woodland Garden, a designed landscape north of Strachur which is home to Britains tallest tree, the Grand Fir Abies Grandis. Near to Strathlachlan on the opposite side of Loch Fyne is Inveraray Castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Argyll and a top tourist attraction in Scotland.

Strachur

The Castle Lachlan Estate has been used several times as a location for film, television and photography.

The ruin of the original Castle Lachlan, dating from the 13th century, lies approximately ten minutes' walk away. The family owned Inver Cottage Restaurant is also only 10 minutes' walk away. This area of the West Highlands is one of great beauty and splendour, enjoying the attractions of both the sea and hills. There are many great golf courses within a comfortable drive, plus there are many visitor attractions in the local area.
