Description from owner

Description

Stonecot is a 19th Century two bedroom detached cottage. Built from traditional Cotswold stone and situated in the beautiful town of Stow-on-the-Wold, Stonecot is less than 50m from England's oldest Inn and 500m from the pretty town square. Whilst Stonecot's proximity to the main town is a key benefit, the cottage is situated on a very quiet lane. Inside the cottage you'll find a wood burning stove to give you that comfy country feel, ably backed up by central heating and double glazing throughout. The cottage is fitted with an array of modern appliances to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and we will also supply towels and linen. To the front of the cottage is a small courtyard area with a picnic table and parasol.

Further details

Stonecot is a no smoking cottage and does not accept pets. We had our own WIFI router installed at the end of February 2014 so we do provide WIFI.

Location description from owner

The Cotswolds region

Officially an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Cotswolds encapsulates England at its most romantic; rolling hills, ancient forests, meandering streams alongside beautiful villages and market towns.

Stow-on-the-Wold

Stow-on-the-Wold is a quintessential English town, situated on the Roman Fosse Way, the town has a long history which is said to date back to a prehistoric fortified settlement on top of a hill.Stow is a very popular destination for both English and International visitors. Offering easy access to the rest of the Cotswolds, it is a great base from which to explore the area. The town itself is a very attractive place in which to relax. The famous Market Square, around which the town grew, is both large and impressive with an elegant collection of traditional Cotswolds buildings now housing welcoming pubs, coffee shops, restaurants and chic boutiques mixed in with the local butcher, baker and hardware store.

“Lovely cottage in a great location”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2015

Stonecot is a lovely cottage very close to the centre of Stow on the Wold, which is itself a great place to stay. We stayed as a couple but the cottage was comfortably big enough to accommodate a family or a group of friends and we are already thinking of planning another visit!

Thanks very much for taking the time to review your stay at Stonecot and we are glad that you had such a good time and that you are keen to return. We hope to see you again soon

“Very comfortable, well appointed cottage close to everything the Cotswolds has to offer.”

This was one of the best cottages we have stayed in, it was extremely comfortable and well appointed. I had two really good nights sleep in the excellent bed. There was nothing about the cottage that I could fault - it was excellent. We will definitely be visiting it again.

We are really glad that you enjoyed your break so much and sorry that you couldn't have stayed for longer. Glad that you had a good night's sleep whilst you were at the cottage though and hope you can enjoy it for longer next time!

“Absolutely perfect, exceeded expectations!”

We had a wonderful stay in the Cotswolds and Stonecot was ideally located. Emma was very helpful and prompt with all replies. The little extras like a basket of logs, toilet paper, milk etc etc was a lovely touch. The cottage was lovely and clean and really felt like a home from home. We would have stayed for longer if it had been available.

“A charming, cosy and comfortable cottage in an excellent location.”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2013

We had a very warm welcome from Emma, the owner, who insisted that if we had any problems or wanted information we should ring her. The cottage was lovely with everything we needed, well furnished and cosy. Although Stonecot is situated within a few minutes walk of shops and restaurants, it is in a quiet lane. We had some lovely meals out and found everyone very welcoming and helpful. It proved to be in an excellent position for visiting the many attractions around the area. We are probably the first people this year who have said that the weather was perfect, but we were very lucky both with the weather and Stonecot.

“Never again !!!”

we were booked in for 2 nights but preferred to spend the 2nd night in a hotel. Cottage is nothing like advertised. To one side is an almost attached property, on the other is a block of terraced properties over looking you. There is no garden to speak of as this is were the car is parked. the television is small to say the least. no welcoming features such as some fresh milk. over priced and really not worth it in my opinion. on a positive note Stow on The Wold is beautiful

We were very saddened to receive these comments, especially as we only found out about them more than 5 days after our guests left. It is very important to us that everyone enjoys their time at Stonecot and we have a comprehensive information pack at the cottage which contains contact numbers should anyone have any concerns. We only live in the next village and so will attend as quickly as we can if there are any problems. Please feel to contact us with any questions you have either before booking or during your stay and we will be more than happy to help you. Hopefully the guestbook on our website will provide a more consistent view of Stonecot.
