Although completely private The Barn is right next door to our house and I am always happy to assist with any questions if required.

There is a small step from the front door into the property and so would be suitable for somone who has difficulty climbling stairs as the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom can all be accessed from ground level. It has a flat screen TV, DVD player and Wi-fi but is comfortabley furnished with antique pictures on the walls and a well stocked bookcase with books on the area as well a novels which guests are quite free to take away with them.
|Further details outdoors|
A timed light switch at the front door gives easy access when its dark. There is a key safe at the front door which is required sometimes if a guest is expected and we aren't around to pass on the key. Parking is right outside the front door in the quiet little Lane.
At the rear of the property there is a small yard with a table and chairs in the summer months. It is completely private but steps lead onto the lawn behind New Wood Farm and guests are quite free to use the garden. Our border collie dog Meg will call round to say 'hello' but quickly gets the message if guests are not dog lovers. If encouraged however, she will be your friend forever and has been known to get Christmas cards from children literally all over the world.
Lots going on at this time of year. The Black Country Museum and the German Christmas market in Birmingham are wonderful.
The West Midlands region
Being in the centre if England means that nowhere is too far away and that mosts places can be visited even as a day trip - London, Manchester, Liverpool, York, Wales. The transport system is excellent and there are many places worthy of a visit. The National trust has many properties in the area, including Whitwick Manor in Wolverhampton just 30 minutes away.
There is the Safari Park in Kidderminster (20 minutes) and the City of Birmingham is now a wonderful cosmopolitan City with excellent Theatres, Museums, Restaurants and Bars. There are all types of restaurants and pubs serving delicious food for all tastes. Stourbridge is just 14 miles from Birmingham with a regular train service that takes just around 30 minutes directly from Stourbridge in to the City. It is an excellent base for a City visitor with the biggest German Christmas market outside of Germany as well as the Sea Life Centre and the NIA which hosts international concerts and performing arts.
Many of our guests however, love the area for what it is. Country walks with country pubs, wonderful Indian restaurants, great shopping at the Merry At the Merry Hill centre and living in a traditional area that is not flooded with other tourists.
Stourbridge is know world wide for its glass industry. The Crystal works have changed with the passing of the years and has been replaced with exciting new designers and a Glass Bienale is now held in the town every 2 years attracting visitors from every corner.
The Glass Museum and The Ruskin centre are within walking distance. The canal waterways are easily accessed by a right of way that runs alongside The Barn leading to the beautiful countryside of South Staffordshire. It is possible to walk (About 1 hr) into Kinver Village, a pretty village with a Norman Church.

"Home away from home"
Just returned home to Australia from a 3 1/2 week stay at The Barn with 2 x 5year olds. This is a great holiday rental and it felt like home. Linda has decorated the cottage beautifully feeling very "English". The layout was perfect with a kids room on the ground floor and a parents room on the landing. The bathrooms, kitchen and lounge area were well equipped and our children loved the jukebox. Central heating was also great as the weather cooled down. We were visiting relatives in the West Midlands and the closeness to good roads and only 5 minutes to public transport made it easy for us to commute. Stourton is a lovely area and short walk to the canals made it an interesting place to go for walks, including a walk to Kinver to a pub. There are lots of things to do in the West Midlands for families and this was a great base for day trips. Mike and Linda respected your privacy but were always available if needed. We would be happy to book again next time we visit the UK.
Thanks for the review Meredith. It was great to have you for 'neighbours' for a while. Hope you enjoy the summer.xx

The same as above together with a touch of quirkyness. Linda and Mick were great hosts very welcoming. Would happily go back, there is plenty to do and see in the area and surroundings.
