Description

** Winner of TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence**

Standing imposingly in its own large garden, the Old Mill has been carefully refurbished to provide 7 floors of cutting edge design against a backdrop of original features. Glass bannisters, steel staircases and granite worktops blend perfectly with red brick, oak floors and the original workings of the old flour mill.

The house brims with character: Beamed ceilings, woodburners, open fires, squishy sofas.

The huge stainless steel and oak kitchen has french doors leading to the large BBQ area and heated swimming pool (Pool open from April to October incl).

The split level heavily beamed sitting room has the original mill stone as its central feature.

The ground floor of the tower is presented as a formal dining room, whilst overhead, on the first floor, a stunning glass walkway connects the house to the Mill Tower.

“An amazing place for a special occasion.”

Reviewed 23 Nov 2017

Wow! We have just enjoyed three nights in this wonderful, characterful building for my 40th birthday and we couldn't have wished for more. The building is sympathetically restored and decorated retaining some amazing original features such as the millstones and workings of the Old Mill. My family, ranging from 10 years old to 69 years old and every age in between thought this was the perfect venue for this special occasion. The youngsters were very excited to tell their friends that they had stayed in the tower of a windmill and the rest of us really appreciated the charm of the building and the available space. There is ample space to all gather at the kitchen table, in the spectacular dining room in the tower and in the split level living room with really comfy sofas. We enjoyed many board games, the games room which has a small pool table, a full size table tennis table and table football and a cocktail night in the kitchen (perfect in the sociable space with an island for the ingredients). The Chinese & Fish & Chip Shop (Good Earth), was really tasty and very good value. The Old Mill is a very special place - my nephew said when we were sat around the round table with the candles lit and ambient lights on, that he felt like he was at a wedding 'but not a boring, awkward wedding.' Having visited in November, we didn't make use of the pool or the outside area but we could all imagine how good it would be in warmer months. We wouldn't hesitate to return for other special occasions and wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Old Mill to others.

“A great venue for a multi generational family holiday”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2017

A real architectural gem with all you need for a great family holiday (not suitable for toddlers) If you have kids who enjoy swimming, I recommend you add pool heating, it makes all the difference to spending lots of time outside in the garden. Lots to see and do in the local area (bird spotting at Snettisham, seals at Blakeney, watergardens with Kingfishers at Gooderstones to name a few) and the kitchen/dining room perfect for big family meals. Sandra is a very responsive and helpful owner.

“Wedding Weekend”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2017

We were a group of 9 friends staying at the Mill for a friends wedding in the area. The place is stunning and so unusua with lots of original features. The outside area is great as well and made use of the pool and BBQ. It is a great property and very memorable. I'd make sure you are quite a close group of friends/family as the 3 rooms in the Mill tower are interconnecting so you have to walk through each room if want the bathroom etc. This wasn't a problem for us and the rooms are so unuak to was a real novelty! The owner was great - really helpful at giving any tips and quick to respond. Would definitely recommend if looking for a location a little bit different!

“60th birthday”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2017

From the time of our arrival with all our lovely family, we were astounded at how comfortable we felt. The Old Mill is a fantastic place to stay, every bedroom has its own character with very comfy beds and great linen, the 3 Bathrooms are well placed and to a very high standard as well as very clean. My personal favourite is the one on the ground floor (very retro) . The view from the tower is wonderful , the pool area is comfortable with all the seating or sun beds you need. The pool is lovely and warm and a very good size, with a great games room near the pool. The kitchen is a large very well equipped one. Plenty of space in the large lounge areas to all get together to relax. We wish could of stayed longer

“Wow, what a fabulous place!”

Just got back from a 50th birthday celebration with family and friends at The Old Mill, a fantastic time was had by all. The owners Gary and Sandra are very helpful both when booking and planning your stay. The photo's on the website do not do this place justice and I would highly recommend a stay. We were lucky enough to have fantastic weather all weekend and spent the majority of it outside around the heated pool. For the people that are lucky enough to sleep in The Mill because of the nature of it the rooms have no doors and made it like sleeping in a very unusual dorm, fantastic! We topped off our weekend by having outside caterers in (the owners can do this but can also recommend others) on one of the night's and ate around the big round table in the mill. If you get the chance this is a must and not as expensive as you may think. We would love to visit again.

“What a wonderful place!”

I stayed here for a girls weekend away with 14 guests and it was PERFECT! Sandra was so helpful leading up to the weekend, she answered all our questions within 24 hours, helped us with ideas of what to do around the area and gave us good timely reminders of when our payment was due. When we arrived, the house was was tidy and welcoming, it was just the perfect setting for our weekend, it is such a special place with so many quirky features. The pool was so warm, and the outside area is perfect for relaxing in the sun. The neighbours are also so lovely and were very helpful when we had a quick question. Whilst we were there, there was an problem with the oven - I mention this not because it was an issue (these things happen don't they!) but because it showed how attentive Gary and Sandra are. They were just at the end of the phone, came over briefly to check it out and gave us numerous solutions us to choose from. When the electrician came over, he was so discrete, it did not feel awkward at all having him around for the brief time period he was there and he fixed the issue in no time. I would recommend this place (and have been!) to everybody who was looking to rent somewhere seriously impressive, very cosy, charming and a place that they could make home for the duration of their stay. As a final point - within 48 hours of leaving, I was contacted with regards to returning our security deposit - I was very impressed.Thank you for making our weekend away so perfect!

“The Old Mill weekend”

Reviewed 23 May 2017

My wife expressed a wish to stay in a windmill for her 70th birthday. We have 4 children and 8 grandchildren so the Old Mill at Stoke Ferry with beds for 17 was ideal. We were also entertaining various other family members on the Saturday. Apart from the constraint of just 3 toilets (each in one of the large bathrooms) and running low on toilet paper by Sunday , we had a fabulous weekend. The heated pool was great for all ages at all times and the big open kitchen was ample space during the one brief downpour we experienced. The view from the top of the tower is as breathtaking as the climb itself. No one visiting missed out on it. Wonderful memories

“Amazing property”

We’re just back from an amazing stay at The Old Mill where we were celebrating a hen weekend. What an amazing property! So spacious and incredible bathrooms. The heated pool was a huge hit and we loved the huge kitchen. Gary and Sandra went out of their way to help with any queries and we enjoyed a beautiful catered lunch cooked by Gary. Would highly recommend a visit here.

“Simply perfect holiday property!!”

Just got back from a week at The Old Mill where I celebrated my 40th birthday with my family. I just can't rate this property highly enough. Masses of space, luxurious bathrooms, huge kitchen / diner and cozy living rooms. It really has everything u could need for a great stay and the Tower just gives it an extra special edge! The swimming pool was lovely and warm meaning we could use it even in the chilly April weather. Games room and trampoline kept us all entertained and Sandra couldn't have been more welcoming. I would recommend booking this property to anyone!

“"Perfect for a family party and get-together. Child and pet-friendly"”

Reviewed 22 Mar 2017

The building is amazing!! An adventure just exploring all the rooms. And then you have to decide who gets to sleep in The Tower!! The simply stunning dining room (with it's own private bridge) begs for you to indulge with some very special 'private dining'. We did just that and now have some fantastic memories. If you are catering for yourselves, the kitchen is fabulous, everything you need and more for relaxed or formal mealtimes. Welcoming space in the lounge areas with sumptuous sofas and a toastie warm log burner. loads of games to play and a piano (if a little off key) to add to your entertainment. I don't think we used the TV! Games room and trampoline across the garden to keep the children in your party amused (whatever their ages). There is a swimming pool and party area outside but we didn't get to use it due to our out of season stay. Amazing space all the same. This is a great place to spend quality time with your loved ones (which for us also includes our gorgeous labradour). Sandra and Gary (the owners) made us all feel very welcome. We'll visit again!
