Description

This charming Georgian garden apartment is a relaxing home from home retreat only 10/15 minutes' walk from the excitement of central Edinburgh. This property, with a bedroom overlooking the patio and garden (shared with the owners), was recently extensively refurbished and comes complete with a private entrance and all modern amenities.

The warmth of the kitchen/dining/living room will make you feel completely at home in cultural and historic Edinburgh. Despite the tranquility of Dean Terrace itself, the bohemian Stockbridge area is home to a sparkling community of unique shops, cafes and pubs. There is an excellent farmers' market 2 minutes' walk from the flat each Sunday from 10-5, selling locally produced food and gifts.

Please note that access to the flat is via a short flight of steps, making it unsuitable for those with mobility problems. The flat is only available from March to November.

You will be greeted personally where possible; otherwise you will be given full instructions on picking up the keys at the flat. Your welcome pack will include wine, chocolate, tea/coffee, bread, eggs, milk and a local's guide to the surrounding area

We are happy to give you practical advice on the sights of Edinburgh and other areas of Scotland at your request (including cycle routes, golf courses etc), yet full privacy is ensured by your separate front entrance.

We have travelled extensively, have lived in Algeria, and Japan and have recently returned from volunteering for 12 months in Tanzania. We speak French, basic Japanese and basic Swahili. We look forward to welcoming all nationalities to our holiday apartment.

The flat is beautifully decorated, with high quality equipment and furnishings. Guidebooks are available, together with our lists of recommended places in the city and in the local area.

Basics such as cooking oil, salt/pepper, washing liquids, toilet paper etc are provided, together with a welcome pack of milk, eggs, bread, wine and chocolate. The owners are happy to purchase other groceries for guests prior to arrival.

The flat is part of an elegant Georgian terrace, and has a private patio, in addition to the use of a sunny shared garden. Although there is no private parking, parking bays opposite the flat allow parking up to 4 hours at a time, and a 10 minute walk will take you to streets where you can leave your car with no charge. There are no parking restrictions on Saturdays and Sundays.

A cosmopolitan city, with first-class shops, restaurants and clubs, Edinburgh is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, a City of Literature and home to the largest arts festivals in the world every summer.

Surprisingly close to Edinburgh's busy centre ,peace and quiet can be found in Holyrood Park, a vast area of wide open space, small glens and lochs. A walk up Arthur's Seat (250m) , an extinct volcano in the park, provides spectacular views of the city

Stockbridge

Stockbridge is an ideal place to unwind after your sightseeing. With its village atmosphere and individual shops (including boutique, art shops, butcher, cheese-monger and delicatessens) it has everything you could want. One of Edinburgh's prettiest streets(Ann Street) is at the end of Dean Terrace and nearby Inverleith Park and the Botanical Gardens are wonderful places to relax.

Tennis courts and Victorian swimming baths are nearby and Murrayfield golf club is a 10 minute drive from the apartment. Neil and Barbara wil be happy to advise on cycle routes and golf courses.

Wonderful Stockbridge neighbourhood - shops, cafes and restaurants galore nearby. Super flat - quiet, very clean and comfortable, kitchen brilliantly equipped, excellent bed and shower, and extremely kind owners - greatly appreciated welcome package of goodies and loads of information available on Edinburgh. Access to garden and terrace to relax if you do have any time to spare in this vibrant city!

This flat is beautifully appointed, very well equipped and a joy to stay in. A generous welcome pack, a vase of freshly-picked flowers, extensive local information and a friendly welcome from Barbara - all we needed to make us feel at home. Barbara and Neil have thought of everything to help their guests - mobile phone, notebook PC, generous provisions, recommended shops and eating places, bus routes - these little considerations make all the difference. The flat is located in the delightful Stockbridge, one of Edinburgh's most special areas. Lovely walks, convenient shops and buses into town, good restaurants close by. Very peaceful at night; we slept well in the comfortable bed. We wholeheartedly recomment the flat at 10A.
