Stirling and Callander only 7 miles away with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth all under an hour away therefore the Smiddy and Stables Apartments are conveniently located for many visitor attractions, including Stirling and Edinburgh Castles, Loch Lomond, Gleneagles and St Andrews. The Stables apartment has a large living area with comfy sofabed and TV. The kitchen area is equipped with a fridge/freezer, oven, hob and microwave. Thee bathroom has a bath with a handheld shower attachment. The staircase leads to an upper galleried bedroom area (open on one side above the living area), which has a double bed.

The Stables Apartment (along with its sister apartment, The Smiddy - Property #1340891) is located in a separate barn conversion within the grounds of the main house (Corshill Cottage - Property #288255) with their own area of the stunning garden, secluded from the house. Great flexibility - each apartment is ideal for either a romantic getaway for couples or for a family of 4. Book both apartments for two couples or two families, sleeping up to 8. The area offers great walking, cycling, fishing, golf and pubs/cafes and restaurants close by. Nick Nairn's Cook School is only 10 minutes away.

Corshill Cottage also offers high quality self-catering (all en-suite) accommodation within what was originally a blacksmith's cottage, dating back to 1810. The Cottage has been carefully updated and extended to provide relaxed, spacious and comfortable accommodation for up to 11 people. It stands amidst a large, well-planned charming garden, which it shares with the Smiddy and Stables apartments, which are located in a separate barn conversion.

Corshill Cottage and Barn Apartments can sleep a total of 19 people, great for family and friends' get-aways and celebrations.

Downstairs in Corshill Cottage, there is a pretty sitting room with wood-burning stove and comfortable sofas, TV and DVD player, which leads through to the peaceful sun room overlooking the garden, which contains a double futon sofabed.

The kitchen is in French oak and is well-equipped with electric Rangemaster stove, oven and microwave. French doors/windows open onto the garden at the back where there is a dinning terrace. A scullery with dishwasher and fridge/freezer is next to the kitchen as is the utility room with WC, wash-hand basin and washer/dryer.

There is a second large family/dining room with centrally situated wood-burning stove and TV/DVD player. Access to the eastern side of the garden is by the French doors/windows opening out to a second patio area, also with an outdoor dinning table. The dining area has a large table, which can comfortably seat 12 people, there is also space to add the table from the kitchen to cater for larger groups. A twin-bedded room with en-suite shower completes the downstairs accommodation.

There are 2 staircases. The first one leads to a bedroom with a king-size double bed and a lovely large bathroom with luxuirous bath and shower attachment. There is a large fitted wardrobe situated between both rooms. The second staircase leads to the 2 remaining en-suite bedrooms: one double bedroom with en-suite shower room and fitted wardrobe and one family room with en-suite shower room across the landing from the double bedroom.

The large en-suite twin room downstairs is to this side of the house.

The Scotland region

Central Scotland has much to offer visitors. Aside from the many attractions offered by Glasgow and Edinburgh, including fantastic shopping, Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish Parliament, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and the Burrell Art Collection in Glasgow, there are many other locations within the Central Belt which are well worth a visit, e.g. Linlithgow Palace, New Lanark Heritage Centre, the Falkirk Wheel, Forth & Clyde Canal, Loch Lomond, Rob Roy's Grave at Balquhidder, St Andrews for both golf and the beach, Turnberry, again for golf and many other attractions. All of the above are between 30 minutes to 1 hour drive from Corshill Cottage.

Stirling

Stirling offers many historic attractions, including Stirling Castle (which has been used as a concert venue, including Rod Stewart, Kylie Minogue, Michael Buble, Bob Dylan), the National Wallace Monument and the Battle of Bannockburn Heritage Site. In addition, Stirling has varied shopping opportunities and eating places.

Don't forget to visit Stirling Old Town (just below the Castle) which has a different feel to modern Stirling, with its cobblestone streets and buildings of architectural interest. Stirling has the best surviving town wall in Scotland. It can be explored on the Back Walk, which follows the line of the wall from Dumbarton Rd (behind the Park & Ride Bus Stop) to the Castle. You pass the town cemeteries (housing the Star Pyramid, an out-sized affirmation of Reformation values dating from 1863), then the path continues around the back of the Castle to Gowan Hill where you can see the Beheading Stone, now encased in iron bars to prevent contemporary use.

The Church of the Holy Rude has been the town's parish church for 600 years; James VI was crowned here in 1567.

The Old Town Jail is a great venue for kids, as actors take you through the complex, portraying a cast of characters that illustrate the hardships of Victorian prison life entertaining style.

The surrounding countryside offers many opportunities to indulge in outdoor pursuits, including fishing (Loch Lubnaig, Lake of Menteith, Loch Venachar, River Teith, River Leny, etc.), hillwalking (Menteith Hills, Ben A'an, Ben Ledi, Ben Venue, Ben Vane, etc.) cycling, cooking (The Nick Nairn Cookschool is based in Port of Menteith), pony & segway trekking (Rednock Farm between Thornhill and Port of Menteith), sports centre activities (ice skating, climbing wall, swimming, tennis, etc.). There are also numerous golf courses, including at Stirling, Bridge of Allan, Callander, Aberfoyle, with the famous Gleneagles golf courses approx 25 minutes drive from Corshill Cottage - the venue for the 2014 Ryder Cup championship.
