“Friendly owner, clean environment - great base for days out in Kent.”

Reviewed 30 May 2019

The location was great. Its in a quite lane, (easy to find with directions issued previously by the owner) and with Sat Nav. It is a dog friendly place, lots of walks in woodland nearby and the barn has facilities for tea/coffee, food etc. It was just enough for us (2 adults, 1 child {on pull out bed} and tubby pug!) We visited Canterbury (shops, cathedral and went punting), the designer outlet shopping center in Ashford and also spent a day on/off the Romney Hythe railway. On Sunday the windmill close by (2 min walk from barn) was open selling cream teas etc and we had a tour of the windmill to the top (donation in box). Overall our stay was welcoming and good value for money. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a friendly, inexpensive base to stay in whilst visiting nearby attractions.

“Great base”

Reviewed 12 May 2019

Really enjoyed our stay, very competitively priced, beautiful location easy walk to pub and great base for exploring the local area. Downsides are it’s a bit tired and needs an update. Furniture is quite poor (although bed was ok) Also the cesspit overflowed slightly almost every day leaving an unpleasant smell in the small courtyard garden. Overall we really enjoyed it and wound definitely return however we’d like to see it modernised a bit and the cesspit sorted out.

“Peaceful break.”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2017

First floor living, large windows looking out over fields and open land, huge skies and sunsets in the living room. Plenty of space for 4 , separate bathroom and bedroom with well appointed downstairs kitchen. Really relaxed holiday no hassles no issues no problems. Happy to come again.

“Quiet, peacful location”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2013

We spent a long weekend at the Holly Cottage barn and it served our purpose well as we were visiting family in Canterbury so using as a base rather than as a place to holiday. The location is peaceful, the barn as advertised and fairly priced. Nicola was helpful and friendly.

“Great accomadation & location”

Reviewed 4 Jun 2012

Had a great time here. Owner very helpful & friendly. Central location is quiet, romantic, & ideal for all areas of Kent and many local walks can be had nearby. Local pub with excellent food and great staff just a 10 minute walk away. Hope to return again!

“I`ve booked again for 2012 as our third year running”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2011

The Barn is perfect for a couple, even with youngsters. The location is fantastic with lovely wooded walks, plenty to visit within easy drives and a friendly local pub with good food. The owners,Ian and Nicola Maxwell, are just as much a reason for us to book for our third year running,as the barn itself. Well worth the drive from our home in France.

“Excellent place to relax”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2011

The cottage if the perfect size for a small family or 2 couples. It has a lovely kitchen with all you need to cook with. It is in a fantastic location next to a restored windmill. Our daughter loved the walk to it and jumping in paddles. It is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting Canterbury. We loved the farmers market in Elham.
