Doves Cottage is part of the Kingston Estate a magnificent events venue and provider of luxury holiday cottages in Devon. Nestling amongst the rolling hills of the beautiful South Hams it is perfectly situated between Dartmoor and the South Devon coastal towns of Totnes, Torquay. Paignton, Brixham Dartmouth Kingsbridge and Salcombe to name but a few. It is located in Staverton and is a real hideaway location if you want to be near the coast but away from the crowds. The nearby quirky town of Totnes famous for its independent shopping is only 3 miles away.
The cottages are very popular with walkers and there are some lovely walks that you can do from our cottages including an enchanting walk along the river Dart. There are two great pubs/eateries in walking distance of our cottages one situated in Staverton a mile away and the other in Broadhempston which is the next village along. Nearby activities include horse riding (we have a riding school next door), adventure parks, sailing, golf (we can offer free rounds of golf at Dinnaton near Ivybridge 15 minutes away), steam trains (there is a station in Staverton), boat trips, animal farms, water park, beautiful beaches, walking on the moors and fabulous restaurants to name a few.
Our luxury cottages provide a secure fenced garden or courtyard, contemporary furnishings, bedding (Egyptian Cotton) and towels, flat screen T.V's, DVD players, free WIFI, cots, sterilisers, high chairs and stair gates are also available. All of the accommodation has full central heating which is powered by a recently installed Biomass boiler with some of the cottages having additional wood burners.
Doves Cottage was converted from an agricultural building built circa 1650 it is set in a private cobbled courtyard over looked by large mullioned windows with a thatched roof and cob walls. Within this courtyard is a Canadian hot tub in a cedar shingled bath house which is for the sole use of the occupants of .
There is secure parking in the courtyard just outside the cottage and it is in close proximity to the walled garden, the play area and swimming pool.
Doves Cottage is one of three two bedroom cottages however it has an interconnecting door into Little Cottage and therefore it can also be a three bedroom property. It is at the North East end of the 19th Century barn and has unparalleled views across the fields to the village of Broadhempston. The ground floor is all open plan with a well equipped kitchen area, a cosy living space with leather sofas, flat screen TV, and a DVD player. There is a further ground floor king sized bedroom should the interconnected door be used. Upstairs there is a master bedroom, a twin room and family bathroom. There is secure parking outside the cottage and it is in close proximity to the leisure facilities.

The Devon region
Visit South Devon and you'll find that there is more to this spectacular and diverse area than you might have thought. In addition to beautiful beaches and stunning scenery, you'll find Dartmoor National Park, rustic villages and towns, historic buildings and ruins, extreme sports and the best in food and drink. Stretching from Torbay to the outskirts of Plymouth, the coastline is one of many moods and has been defined as a Heritage Coast. It ranges from sheltered hidden coves to the jagged cliffs of Bolt Head and from the long golden expanses of Slapton Sands to the cool, tree-shaded serenity of the Dart and Kingsbridge estuaries, some of Britain's finest ria coastline.
The area around Totnes is stunning with unspoilt walks along the River Dart and up to the historic Staverton Bridge and Devon Steam Railway Station. Totnes with its castle and excellent specialist arts and crafts shops is within easy reach and can be visited via the Devon Steam Railway trains which run directly from Staverton into Totnes.
The River Dart which lends its name to Dartmouth, Dartmoor, Dartington and Dartmeet is on our doorstep. The national park of Dartmoor is but a stones throw away with local historical buildings such as Buckfast Abbey and the renowned Dartington Hall. Superbly located for exploring the English Riviera with Torquay/Paignton being only a 15-20 minute drive away, Blackpool Sands, Dartmouth Harbour, Salcombe and Kingsbridge to name but a few are all within easy reach. The list is endless.
Being close to the stunning Devon coast opens up not only the chance to walk a part of the beautiful and awe-inspiring Southwest Coastal Footpath but offers fishing both onshore and off one of the many wrecks that litter our shoreline. The wild and rugged Dartmoor National Park is minutes away and offers walking for all ages and abilities. Again fishing is available on many of its calm and peaceful reservoirs but permits may be required.
Our cottage is an ideal base for exploring the English Riviera and Darmoor National Park, Staverton is perfectly situated and an ideal base to tour this beautiful part of the South West .
