Description

Villa Mjesto is a large, luxury holiday house, beautifully restored by its New Zealand owner. It has four large bedrooms, three with large double beds and one with two large single beds. It has two lounges, one of which is large, a very large bathroom and two others, and a big garden. It is fully furnished and has all the equipment you need. It is also easy to accommodate an extra couple of kids on child beds in the large lounge, and a baby in the cot.

One of the features of the house is an outside terrace that overlooks the lovely, bustling harbour of Stari Grad, one of the oldest and most attractive towns in the Adriatic. It is not necessary to bring a car, but the house has two parking spaces in the grounds if you do.It is great for families and groups of friends, with everyone able to do their own thing because of the ease with which everything can be accessed on foot and bike. The design of the house also makes it possible to give more privacy than normal to different groups in your party.

Car free harbour-side promenades lead to nearby beaches and swimming areas, and it is easy to walk and cycle into pristine Mediterranean countryside close by, with stunning views of the island and the neighbouring island of Brac. It is easy to rent bicycles and other equipment like boats. It is easy to get to the house via the ferry from Split, which goes four times a day and takes about 2 hours. Split is a World Heritage site and a great place to visit en route. There are many flights to Split. It is also easy to from Dubrovnik, especially with a hire car.

Location description from owner

The Dalmatia region

Hvar is known as one of the most beautiful islands in the world. A high ridge extends down the island making for beautiful views both within the island and over straits to neighbouring islands. The island has a collection of delightful towns and pleasant places to go for day trips. It is particularly known for its lavender and olive oil, and boasts Croatia's most highly regarded wine.

Stari Grad

Stari Grad means "old town". It is one of the oldest towns in the Adriatic and was the capital of the island for many centuries until the Venetians moved the capital to Hvar Town in the 16th Century. The fields on the outskirts are a designated World Heritage Site because they are the oldest documented field system in the world. There are many interesting heritage sites in and around the town.

Stari Grad is built on either side of a long inlet in the sea. Car free promenades extent along either side, making it a great, family friendly place for strolling and cycling. A long protected peninsula on the edge of the town offers a pristine Mediterranean countryside with wonderful views over water on either side, and attractive swimming spots, one including a restaurant. It is great for both cycling and walking. The sea water is crystal clear, with a very pleasant temperature from mid April to October. There are beaches just on the outskirts of the town, an easy and very nice walk from Villa Mjesto. Stari Grad has many good restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream shops. It has two supermarkets and a good selection of other shops. Wine and olive oil is made around the town and can be bought straight from the producers.

“Perfect location a couple of minutes from Stari Grad harbour”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2014

The Villa had everything needed for our group of 7 friends, we had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Everything is chilled and safe, don`t think anyone locks their doors in the town.
