Location description from owner

The Yorkshire region

One of the best pubs in the area is a pleasant stroll along country footpaths to the Stanwick- here you'll find excellent, home-cooked food and real ales, some of which are brewed right here in the village. The beautiful market town of Richmond is 8 miles away and has an ancient catle and abbey, swimming pool, tennis courts, golf course, cinema, full range of shops selling local produce, quality restaurants and beautiful riverside walks in National Trust woodland. There is a lively Arts scene in Darlington, 8 miles away, and in May-June, the Swaledale Festival attracts musicians from all over the country. Stanwick itself has one of the largest ancient monuments in the UK, the Stanwick Camp, site of the ancient Brigantes headquarters over 2000 years ago. There are so many walks directly from the Dairy Cottage that you don't need to get into your car for the whole of your stay, making this the most relaxing place to come and get away from all the pressures of modern living without sacrificing any of the comforts.

“Beautiful property and Location”

Reviewed 19 Nov 2015

This is a beautiful retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and will definitely be booking again. The large doors were great to open when the sun was shining! The only snag was that we did find them difficult to close so only opened them once!! The open plan living was great and loved the bed!! The bed was enormous and so comfortable! Wish I could live there!! We did have difficulty finding the key and the lady we spoke to on the phone was rather abrupt and seemed a little put out that we could not find it (clear explanation would be helpful, maybe send a photo of where the key is?) but her partner came to help us and was lovely! All in all a fantastic holiday! Thanks Simon!

Thanks for your review - so sorry about the abrupt lady! I will send out more detailed instructions about the key and take up your great suggestion of providing detailed photos, because it is a bit tricky when it is dark. Thanks again for your feedback and for coming to stay in our hideaway home! Best wishes Simon

“Fantabulous”

Reviewed 24 Mar 2014

Absolutely loved the place. We received a very warm welcome from Paul and shown around, not only our cottage but their lettings house next door as well - extremely impressive too. The cottage was immaculately clean and extremely spacious with all the mod cons you need. With it being in the middle of know where we had no mobile signal which was nice. It was also very quiet and we enjoyed the peace. The bed as well...... soooo comfortable. Can't recommend the cottage enough!
