Description from manager

Description

A simple one bedroom Villa newly built directly at the edge of the sand on Stalos Beach and completed in 2013 . Not only is it a few steps from the sea, it's not much further to minimarkets, tavernas and beach bars, many with pools and this location has huge appeal for those who would rather not hire a car.

Green lawns on the seaward side run to the very edge of the sand on Stalos Beach and from there it is just a skip and a hop to the water's edge and a dip before breakfast will become part of the daily routine. There's a table and chairs under an ancient tamarisk just above the beach and for more shade there's a covered dining area in front of the Beach Hut and a good spot for eating in the heat of the day.

Inside, the living space is open and light with two squashy caramel leather covered sofas for chilling out by the plasma TV. The kitchen area has a full cooker, large fridge freezer and there's a breakfast bar if you are eating inside.

There's also a comfortable double bedroom and a smart and spacious shower room with walk in shower.

The apartment is air conditioned and double glazed but if you're a light sleeper you should know that there will be background noise, particularly in August and it will be as well to remember to pack ear plugs – or have an extra glass of wine before going to bed. But if you are looking for somewhere private that you can sit at your own table under a tree above a beautiful sandy beach, walk to a minimarket for the ingredients to throw a salad together or to a taverna to eat in the evening, then stop here, you won't find better.

Location description from manager

The Chania Prefecture region

Stalos

7 km west of Chania, the village of Lower Stalos fringes a long, sandy beach with the island of Theodorou, said to be a petrified sea monster, rising from the sea just a short distance off shore. There are numerous small pensions and apartments as well as half a dozen convenient little mini-markets and an excellent little patisserie, selling delicious fresh baguettes and croissants. There are also a number of waterside tavernas with shady terraces overlooking the sea and teenagers can chill out at one of the atmospheric palm thatched beach bars. 1km inland the small village of Upper Stalos nestles serenely on the hillside amidst a patchwork of vineyards and olive groves.

Here you will find a slower pace of life as well as a couple of the best local tavernas in the area, both certainly worth a visit or two.

"We have just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks holiday in Stalos. The area itself is ideal, not too busy but having a good choice of Tavernas and small shops. We hired a car and enjoyed a couple of trips out to Falassarna (North west, about 45 mins drive) and through the mountains to Elafonisi, Southwest about 2hrs drive). There is a regular bus service into Chania, about 20 mins drive and there is also a great water park within about a half hour drive where we spent a very enjoyable day. We would thoroughly recommend Stalos & Crete as a holiday destination !"
