Location description from manager

The Channel Islands region

Jersey, the largest and most southerly of the Channel Islands, with over 450 miles of roadway (comprising a mix of roads and small lanes) as well as a network of over 46 miles of green lanes with a speed limit of 15mph (24kph) where priority is given to walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

The island is well known for its truly magnificent sandy beaches, sheltered coves and crystal clear waters. Inland, winding lanes take you through delightful countryside. Warmed by the waters of the Gulf Stream, Spring arrives early and Summer lingers on. The weather here consistently tops the UK resort charts for sunshine hours and temperature. Jersey is the most southerly of the Channel Islands and summer temperatures average 20C.

The French flavour is all around with French sounding names, continental style bistros, restaurants and pavement cafes. You do not need a passport to visit the Channel Islands unless you intend taking a day trip to France which is a short hop away by sea or air. You will need proof of identity for flights and sea travel to the island.

Some of Jersey's popular events include the Battle Of Flowers (Second week of August), world famous music festival Jersey Live (first weekend of September), International Air Display (Second week of September) as well as many other local festivals and fetes throughout the year.

Whilst the island is served by a bus service, your own transport is highly recommended - either your own car or a hired car or bicycle to make the most of your visit

St. Ouen

St Ouen is one of the largest and most interesting parishes, containing St Ouen's Manor and Grosnez Castle.

Its main landmark, however, is the Five Mile Road - though its actual length is around 3 miles. This dramatic stretch of highway is bordered on one side by the sweep of St Ouen's Bay and the Atlantic Coast, and on the other by what is arguably one of the finest sand dune areas in Europe.

Nearby Plemont Bay has to be one of Jersey's most beautiful beaches, a sandy cove on the north coast with rock pools, sea caves, an excellent café, safe bathing when the sea is calm and excellent surfing when it isn't. The beach is north facing and the surrounding high cliffs provide good shelter. Its lovely sand is completely covered at high tide but when it retreats, it exposes numerous pools with sandy bottoms which are ideal for young children to play in. Lifeguards are located during the summer months.

“Fabulous property, tranquil and beautiful location, amenities within easy reach”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2015

Made very welcome by the owners. The cottage is very tastefully set out and very comfortable. All four guests slept well and felt very much at home, with all the comforts of home to hand. The location is very picturesque and tranquil. Close to lovely cliff path walks and near to the beautiful Plemont Bay sandy beach. A car is needed, close to amenities and the rest of this beautiful island is very easily accessible. Enjoyed everything about our stay and our only comment would be the benefit of toilet facilities upstairs and perhaps more hanging facility in the smaller bedroom although this is by no means a complaint. We would all stay in this cottage again and this was the view of family who came to visit us while we were there. Had a great time with family and friends - the accommodation was a plus for us.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property, we are delighted you enjoyed your holiday - we do hope we can welcome you back in the future.
