“Perfectly placed”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2015

If you golf or walk or just wish to explore the East Neuk this is a delightful cottage. It has everything you need and is placed exactly half way between St Monans and Pitenweem. the garden centre down the lane is excellent and the farm shop a few miles away has the most lovely things and is award winning. I took my dog and being only 250 yards from the coastal path it was a doggy holiday dream. We walked about 70 -80 miles of the path in glorious weather avoiding the odd tee shot as we went. The beds are comfy and the real fire a boost in the evenings. We will return I have no doubt.

“Lovely Cottage - Great Location.”

Stayed at Lilac Cottage for four nights during early April. The cottage was spacious, scrupulously clean and well appointed. The location - on the outskirts of St Monans - suited us perfectly as it meant that all the area has to offer was in easy reach by car.

“You MUST stay here!”

What I can I say about this cottage apart from saying it is a must place to stay if your looking for somewhere in the area of St. Monans. On arrival we found there was plenty space to park the car at the rear of the property. Entering the property, we found the cottage to have a lot of character with the stable style back door being one of them, the kitchen was clean and tidy and is well equipped with up todate and modern equipment. We then really got the wow factor of this cottage when we went through to the lounge....just amazing. Tastefully done with two comfortable sofas and a coal fire which we took advantage of as we lit the fire and made this room even cosier!! Off the lounge is the master bedroom which has probably got one of the most comfortable beds anyone will ever sleep in!! After our marathon sleep in the worlds comfiest bed there is no better place to waken up in the walk in shower. Another bedroom off the hall holds two single beds which are again tastefully decorated. The cottage is located just out of St.Monans but within easy walking distance to the village and the coastal walks to Pittenween and Anstruther so if you love walking there is no better place. The only down side of our stay in this lovely cottage was that it was too short but will have no hesitation in making a return visit as I said right at the start it's a cottage you MUST visit.

“Cosy Cottage in the East Neuk”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2013

We had a week at Lilac Cottage having visited the area many times before. We wanted a relaxing breaking to recharge our batteries. We were able to chill out and relax with the fire on. We were joined by friends for the weekend and they loved their visit. Our days were spent visiting the fishing villages, going to St Andrews and walks along the beach or coastal paths so it's ideal to explore the East Neuk. With parking at the door and a walk-in shower provided easy access. Although we mostly ate in, there is a good choice of places to eat - especially fish and chips!

“Perfect home away from home”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2013

This is the second time I have stayed at Lilac Cottage, the first was with friends and the second time I returned with my husband. Rental of the cottage couldn't have been simpler and when we arrived it was immaculately clean and tidy. The owners also provided lots of practical information about the cottage (how to turn the heating on, where to buy coal for the fire etc.) along with numerous brochures for attractions in the area, as well as bus timetables. The cottage is in a beautiful location with great access to fantastic coastal walks, St Andrews, and lots of lovely fishing villages with unique shops and great food. The cottage has everything that you would need for any length of stay.....tea, coffee, cooking equipment, cutlery, and of course the kitchen sink ;) The beds and linens were so comfortable we slept like logs. There is a courtyard at the back for parking and a lovely enclosed garden for warmer days.
