Our beautiful holiday home at St Merryn, five miles from Padstow is set in 27 acres of landscaped parkland at Atlantic Bays Holiday Park ( previously known as Point Curlew) . The recently refurbished estate facilities include a shop, launderette and bar. Our chalet is always well kept and this year we have replaced the bedroom carpets and all the beds.

We pride ourselves on keeping the chalet pristine clean - it is our holiday base too! The accommodation is designed to be a modern, comfortable, relaxing base from which to explore the delights of Cornwall. We are happy to take short bookings within a Saturday-Saturday period, but not across two weeks.

An ideal location for outdoor lovers, the spectacular Atlantic coastline is only five minutes drive away with opportunities for cycling, surfing, walking, horse-riding, golf and sight-seeing. The quaint fishing village of Padstow offers interesting shops and places to eat and drink including Rick Stein's famous restaurant.

Slightly further afield you can enjoy lunch at Fifteen; Jamie Oliver's restaurant at Watergate Bay and then walk off your meal at any number of beautiful gardens such as the Eden Project or Lost Gardens of Heligan. The Tate at St Ives is great for art lovers and there are plenty of historic landmarks to visit.

The magic of Cornwall as a holiday destination is that come rain or shine, there is always something to do whether you are nine or ninety!

You really are best to have a car with you but there are buses in the local area and taxis.

Loved this chalet,had everything you’d need and more,clean,homely,safe and cosy! Owner was easy to communicate with and very friendly,well maintained site too and friendly staff were helpful,it was always a pleasure to return to the chalet after a tiring great day out,hope to book again soon.

“Easter holidays in Whimbrel”

We have just returned from our Easter holiday at Whimbrel and we will definitely be booking this lovely chalet next time we visit Cornwall. The chalet is in the perfect location and has everything that you need to enjoy your time away from home. We even watched one of the DVDs on our last night! Adrienne was also very helpful and made sure that we had everything that we needed for our stay at Whimbrel. If anyone is deciding on where to stay for their holidays in Cornwall then I highly recommend booking this Chalet in St Merryn.

Had a fantastic stay, it was spacious and clean, perfect for a family. The site was well kept and located extremely well for all sorts of activities. Everything was provided for a great stay. Would definitely recommend!

Had a fantastic weekend staying in this lovely place. Had everything we needed and more. We had a brilliant experience from the original booking stage. I would defiantly recommend it you want somewhere, nice and quiet to spend your evenings. Fantastic location as close to everywhere. 10/10

Whimbrel is a lovely chalet set in a very quiet position with a very comfortable sitting room and well equipped kitchen. It was very easy to book and the owner was extremely helpful.

My Wife and I travelled from the Midlands to Cornwall with our 3 year old son and arrived at Whimbrel at approximately 4pm. After the painless check in at reception we parked up near our accommodation for the week and started to transfer our goods to Whimbrel. Upon opening the door for the first time we both said wow and was pleasantly surprised by what was available to us.We both thought it was home from home and there was everything there you would need(even washing machine and iron if you were desperate!!) apart from what we were advised to take with us (bedding covers,towels and tea towels). We soon settled in and started to plan our week out. Our son soon settled in as well and was very happy playing outside on the large grass area. The site itself was very well maintained (we were aware that there was some development work taking place on the complex) and situated within a stones throw of local areas, particularly Harlyn Bay and the quaint village of Padstow. The owners of the chalet were very helpful and all in all we were very impressed with Whimbrel and would recommend to anyone. Hoping to return very soon.

“Fabulous weekend break in Padstow!”

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights in Whimbrel Chalet. I can’t recommend it enough. The chalet is a clean, bright, comfy and is a great size. Perfect for what we wanted. It has one double bedroom and the other bedroom has 2 single beds. It would be perfect for a family of 4. The kitchen is lovely and very equip. We cooked in twice and we had everything we needed. The bathroom is also a good size with a good quality shower. The site is in a perfect location, situated a 10 minute drive from Padstow. You can also walk it in about an hour, which is a very pleasant walk. Padstow is a beautiful, quaint harbour with lovely restaurants. We ate at Paul Ainsorth’s Number 6 restaurant which was gorgeous and Rojano’s Italian which was delicious, the pizzas were amazing. Lots of lovely tea shops to visit during the day. And of course several pasty shops, as you can’t visit Cornwall without sampling one. We enjoyed ours sat on a bench taking in the beautiful view of Padstow harbour. One day we caught the short ferry ride across to the other side of Padstow. Everything you need is close to hand, there is a Tesco that is about 5-10 minutes from the site, so perfect for any essentials that you may need. As our trip was in October we did have one day of heavy rain and we didn’t fancy going out in it. But we were more than happy to stay in and relax watching DVDs, reading and enjoying the Chalet itself. The owners were really helpful when booking. I would thoroughly recommend it here and definitely will be returning.

“Lovely Weekend”

The chalet had absolutely everything we needed for our stay, very clean and well equipped. The site itself was very quiet probably due to the time of year, which was fine. Difficult to find the site at first due to it being on an unmarked road, although it was signposted from the Main Road. 5 miles from Padstow and near to Wadebridge and Newquay so ideal location. No Wifi on the site and poor signal for mobiles but we survived. Highly recommended hope to be able to return again next year.

“Home From Home”

What a fabulous week! The accommodation was so clean is the first thing i can say. Its set in a great location for getting into Padstow and its perfect for families with young children like us to visit the beaches nearby. It was literally a home from home with some lovely touches all round. We can't recommend it highly enough. Will definitly be coming back!
