Named after the charming tiny seabird, to be found darting in and out of the local surf, this delightful bright and airy ground floor apartment, is moments away from the stunning Cornish coastline and the golden stretches of sand on Harlyn Bay beach. Sanderlings offers pleasant self-catering accommodation for a family of four (cot & highchair can be provided for babies), and is within easy reach of the famous fishing port of Padstow just 2 miles away. It provides the perfect base for guests to access the beach, just an easy 5 minute walk, and the superb coastal paths that meander all along this magnificent coastline. the famouse Trevose Head Golf Club is also within easy walking distance. A parking space is provided and guests can stop momentarily outside the apartment door to drop off luggage, or persons who find walking difficult. Bookings are Saturday to Saturday in high season but other arrangements can be made during off peak periods and short breaks are also available on request.
Dogs are welcome (except in July and August) but must be kept under control at all times and never left alone in the property.

The apartment is ground floor, self-contained and all on one level, There are 2 double bedrooms, one with washbasin, and a pleasant lounge area with patio doors leading onto a sun terrace, which is furnished with garden table, chairs & sun umbrella. This is a real sun trap, with views of the garden.
The kitchen area is clean and modern , and has dining space for four. Full cooker fridge, microwave and washing machine are provided.
The bathroom has also been re-fitted for 2008 and provides full bath and a walk in shower.
TV & DVD player are located in the lounge area for your entertainment. We have had basic SKY installed, and for those of you with SKY at home, you can take your card with you, so that you don't miss out on your favourite programs whilst you are away.
For those feeling energetic there are some wetsuits provided and a variety of beach games and a windbreak.
Electricity and bedding ( but not towels) are included in the rental price.
Further details outdoors
There is a small play area for children in the garden and dogs are welcome in the flat for most of the year (except July and August). Dogs are also allowed on the beach.
The gardens are well maintained and pretty and there parking for one car per apartment in the grounds.
There is a path across the garden which leads down a short lane and onto the coastal path and the beach - time to walk....5-7 minutes
Although there is a washing machine in the apartment, there is a further area open to guests which houses a commercial washer and dryer.
The England region
Cornwall is a beautiful county, blessed with a climate similar to northern France. It is famous for it's pasties, cream teas and ice cream, and we challenge any of you to come home after your holiday weighing less than you did before it! But who cares- that 's what holidays are all about!
Cornwall is not a vastcounty but is packed with history and tourist attractions a plenty. It is only 25 minutes to Newquay from Harlyn Bay, 45 minutes to St.Ives and 1 1/2 hours to Land's End. The south coast is only a short drive away too, and many a happy afternoon can be spent poking round the quaint shops of Falmouth or maybe taking a trip on the charming 'Fowey Town Tours' train, or relaxing with an ice cream on Mevagissy harbour.
There are seven fabulous beaches in the area, some have huge stretches of golden sand and some are facinating rocky coves with deep and intruiging rockpools begging to be explored. On the cliff top there is mile upon mile of breathtaking coastal walks and scenery. The coastal path is literally 5 minutes walk away from the apartment and the views are truly amazing. The path is well maintained with some stiles, but not taxing as it meanders along the cliff top, each twist and turn revealing yet another delight. Sturdy footwer advised.
THE LOCAL AREA
The apartment is within easy walking distance( 5 minutes) of an excellent pub which caters for all the family, with an extensive menu and nightly carvery. The Harlyn Inn also offers free Wi-fi, so you can catch up with friends, family and business contacts. There is also an well stocked beach shop which hires out surf boards and surf-skis.
About 1 miles away in the village of St Merryn, you will find several excellent restaurants and pubs to suit all pockets. There are some superb shops here too for your provisions, with a first rate bakery and deli, and there is also the award winning fish and chip shop with dining facilities as well as take away. Just up the road, between St. Mrerryn and Trevone, Rick Stein has taken over the Corshing Arms and is catering for families. Good value and delicious!
PLACES TO VISIT
As well as the wonderful beaches, the area is littered with tourist attractions, the Eden Project, Flambards, Poldark Mines to name just a few, and the picturesque villages that lie inland just a short drive away hold many delights in the way of rustic pubs with mouthwatering fare, cream teas etc.
Padstow though is a must with it's quaint streets and shops, fabulous restaurants (book months early and save up if you wish to visit Rick Stein's Seafood restaurant ), and the beautiful village of Rock and St. Enerdoc is just a ferry ride away. Bicycles can be hired from Padstow, for the flat and picturesque ride up the River Camel trail to Wadebridge & beyond.
For those of you who enjoy golf, Trevose Head Golf Club -Peter Alliss's favourite Cornish course, (one of Maggie Thatcher's favourites too!) is but 1 minute away. It is a stunning course right out on the headland, with panoramic views across the sea, Booby's Bay and Constantine Beach.
This area is the perfect venue for the family holiday, you can spend each day doing something different, or every day doing nothing at all, the choice is all yours!
The Eden project is approximately 30 minutes drive away. There are many National Trust properties close by.

“Definately Recommended :)”
Just got back from our FAB holiday :O) Good directions led us straight to your lovely warm house. The property was able to accommodate our party which consisted of two adults, two teenagers and two dogs and we all managed without any problems,the dogs being welcomed on the beaches (almost all out of season) pubs, cafes & shops etc. Weather cold but dry so we did lots of walking and exploring. Harlyn beach must be one of the best but there are lots of lovely bays all along this coast. On our last evening we went to Constantine Bay and watched the huge waves crashing over the beach as dust fell, truly magical. Sited within easy reach of beaches, coastal paths and many wonderful little fishing towns such as Padstow & Rock it is definately a 'must come back to' place.

“Lovely apartment only minutes from the beach”
I have now stayed at Sanderlings on a couple of occasions with my daughter and dog and now can't imagine staying anywhere else. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped and is like a home away from home. Booking the apartment is very easy and the owner is very helpful and friendly. The apartment is close to local amenities and has its own private parking space. The beach is only a short walk away and can be accessed by the main road or via a private road which leads on to the cliff top. There are many walks around Harlyn Bay either along the beach or the cliff tops. I would highly recommend the apartment which is in the perfect location. I'm looking forward to staying again next year.

“Much better than a caravan but not much difference in price”
I stayed with my three adult sized kids aged 17 ,15 and 11 who all loved this cosy apartment and did not feel cramped in it. "Much better than a caravan" was the comment uttered several times in the week. Grandparents were even entertained and cooked for on a few evenings and we still managed! We also watched lots the olympics on the small screen tv and noone was the least bit bothered it wasnt a HD 50" screen.(Why do I bother at home I ask myself!) Car park space and hanging room on the line was always available and a 5 min walk took us down to the nearest beach but we were close enough to get to all the other beaches around with a bit more effort. Spotlessly clean and well equipped although the microwave could do with updating. We would love to stay again.

“Little retreat close to the sea”
We have stayed at Sanderlings on four occasions and already booked for May 2013. We find the flat very homely and comfortable, and an ideal base for a relaxing beach/walking holiday within easy driving distance of Padstow. The flat is always spotlessly clean thanks to Linda's brilliant cleaning and the beds are really comfortable with the bedding smelling wonderful. The kitchen is excellently equipped and has everything we have ever needed. I holiday with my sister and my daugher and we always feel very comfortable and safe and value the private parking space. I have no hesitation in recommending, but feel the small room is really only suitable for two young children or just one adult and the flat would feel cramped with 4 persons. We enjoy the extension of the little patio and have had some lovely bbq's there.

We all enjoyed a very relaxing break at Sanderlings. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. It is only a short walk from Harlyn Bay- a sandy beach great for swimming, surfing and body boarding. There is a pub a few minutes walk away that serves good reasonably priced food and Padstow is very close for further food choices. A great place to holiday.
We are delighted that the Hardwickes made the most of all that this beautiful beach has to offer. The apartment being so close to the Harlyn Bay is ideal for families who enjoy the outdoor life but who also enjoy having a warm and comfortable haven to return to at the end of the day.
