Description

A recently restored spacious stone cottage in the centre of a hamlet of around 12 stone houses, ideally situated for quiet relaxing days in the secluded garden or walking through the surrounding countryside. It is a short 5 mins drive into the quiet cafes and restaurants of the nearby Dordogne town of Riberac. There you will find a lovely town square with fountains, cafes and the bustling Friday morning market, one of the largest in the region. The hamlet is surrounded by agricultural land, woods and magnificent views, plus numerous marked walks. The gite has recently been restored with a modern kitchen and shower room whilst retaining the oak beams, fireplace and exposed stone walling and other original features. Stairs lead to the mezzanine floor (6ft high at centre but lower at each side) with two single beds and a sofa bed. A French window leads to the rear garden with the table and chairs in the shade of a Mirabelle tree.

For cooling off in summer there are numerous places for swimming, canoeing/kayaking or taking trips on the river. Nearby Lake Jemaye offers swimming from a sandy beach, picnicking, or birdwatching whist Parcoul offers the same plus activities and amusements for children. The nearest beach is approximately 1.5 hours drive away at either Arcachon or the seaside resorts of the Gironde Estuary (Royan etc).
Bergerac old town and vineyards is less than an hour's drive. The elegant city of Bordeaux is around an hour on the A89. The village of St Emillion and all the world famous vineyards is also just an hour away. The beautiful medieval town of Perigueux, and capital of the Dordogne is half an hour away. Brantome (20 mins drive) is known as the "Venice of France".
All banks, supermarkets, doctors and restaurants are just 3 kms away. Cyles available for hire at 5 euros per day for anyone wishing to get even closer to rural France.
