The Kent region
The Gateway to White Cliffs Country. Chalk downland on top of the cliffs with many plants and wildlife unique to the area. Close to the sea, rolling countryside with many historical features. Close to pretty historical village and secluded bay to watch the ships sail by whilst enjoying a meal/drink on the verandah of the last hostelry before France! Or enjoy a walk along the white cliffs to enjoy the spectacular scenery or just sit in your car or enjoy a picnic looking down on the port activities from on high. Wonderful unspoilt countryside that has so much history attached to it that many people return to explore further.
St Margaret's at Cliffe
There are many historical venues to visit including the war time tunnels at Dover Castle where they hold weekend themed events during certain times of the year. Deal and Walmer Castles also nearby.
The Port of Dover is ideal for a trip to France and the Channel Tunnel is a short car ride away(remember your passport). Optional accompanied day trip including a meal can be booked for additional charge.
The City of Canterbury with its magnificent Cathedral is 17 miles away and has attractive shops and cobbled streets.
There are several golf courses nearby; horse-riding is available locally and the shore at St Margaret's Bay is ideal for fishing and investigating the numerous rock pools. The village is worth visiting for its friendly pubs, tea rooms and restaurants and has a shop, post office, Pines Gardens and museum.

"Great location, roomy apartmemt, helpful host."
This accommodation is a self-contained section of a larger house yet you do not feel too close to the host who is helpful if needed yet non-intrusive and very thoughtful; she noticed a great value coupon to Dover castle in the local paper which she cut out and left for us. Clean and tidy and roomy with everything you could need. There are a couple of nice pubs and a small grocery store within walking distance. Access to the white cliffs walk to Dover is close by; we walked to Dover and back but you could taxi one way if you like or arrange with your host for a lift. Dover Castle is awesome: aspects from Roman times right through to World War lI. Excellent recreation of the times. The kids enjoyed the WWII tunnels even though they were a bit "castled out" by the time we got to this part of the country.

"a place like home"
We spent a nice day, the cottage is very confortable, clean, well equiped. A good situation, very calm, quiet, a beaufiful village, next the cliffs ! Nice walk to do. Tricia is very friendly, helpfully. A good souvenir, we probably come back on day, do not hesitate to spent a week in the cottage. Thank you !

"Wish we could have stayed longer"
Lovely, clean apartment furnished in a modern way. Location was good, within walking distance of amenities. We took two children under 4 with us and the only downside was where to sit the baby when we ate as we didn't take a travel highchair - but the owner did make us aware that a highchair was not available so it was our choice to travel without one. Great location for Dover Castle and the port. Would love to go back and stay longer.

"Birthday weekend with friends"
Found the cottage was great for walks to St Margarets Cliffe, the lighthouse. Found the owner Tricia very helpful and kind. It was a well spaced out cottage would love to live in a similar property. Had outside space a garden at the front, well proportioned bedrooms, choice of separate shower and bath. Lovely having breakfast overlooking the back garden. Would loved to have stayed longer and explored further. Recommend the cottage for a break.
