“The perfect gite!”

Reviewed 27 May 2017

Our stay at Le Grenier couldn't have been better. It was our first "proper" holiday with our 10 month old baby and we all had a truly relaxing, memorable time. The house is immaculate and has everything you could possibly need, but retains real charm. Fabulous gardens were ideal for baby to crawl, and for the adults to relax or play badminton. Icing on the cake... the donkeys at the bottom of the garden! Couldn't recommend this place highly enough, especially with such friendly, helpful owners.

“Perfect holiday home”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2016

This was our second stay at Le Grenier and we are already planning our 3rd visit! Andrew and Jackie are wonderful hosts - attentive but never obtrusive. The house is beautifully maintained and very well equipped (although I would really appreciate a fly screen over the door!!). The lovely outdoor spaces are perfect for relaxing with a book & a glass of wine and the provision of covered parking is a very thoughtful bonus. The village is quiet and pretty, a great base for touring the local area.

“Another memorable stay in a wonderful gite owned by a lovely couple.”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2016

After staying at Le Grenier for one week in 2015 we booked in for a fortnight this year. We were not disappointed with a longer break at Le Grenier. Andrew and Jacky made every effort before our stay to ensure a few extra facilities were available for our 18 month old daughter (paddling pool, swing, clean sand pit toys, baby chair, travel cot). The gite was as comfortable and well furnished as we remembered while the information available in the gite was invaluable. The outside area is spacious and there are all manner of amenities for guests to use if the sun is shining (sun loungers, outside table and chairs both front and back, bicycles, badminton net, etc). Andrew and Jacky are often on hand for any local knowledge or advice that might be needed and the property is very close to a number of lovely sights in a beautiful area. Throw in a few vineyards in the immediate vicinity and Le Grenier comes close to perfection! All in all, another memorable stay in a wonderful gite owned by a lovely couple. What more could you want? Five stars!!

“Another fantastic stay at Le Grenier!”

Reviewed 19 May 2013

This was our third visit to Le Grenier in 3 years and yet again we were not disappointed. The gite is absolutely fantastic and certainly has the 'wow factor'. Since our last visit new lamps have been added to the lounge, an iPod docking station in the kitchen, new sun loungers for the gorgeous, private garden, a new gas barbecue and a new double quilt for the main bedroom. This constant attention to detail and focus on providing a real 'home away from home' is what makes Le Grenier so special. If you book a stay here you will not be disappointed by the standard on offer. This has to be one of the best gites on offer in the Loire valley. We're already looking forward to visiting again next year!

“Pure bliss - the place to excape to”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2012

Having stayed in many holiday cottages, this is definitely the one to benchmark all the others! Le Grenier is very well presented, is extremely well equipped and maintained to the highest standards The secret to this excellence is clearly the two donkeys that are ever-present and well supervised by Norman the cat who appears just like the proverbial Genie. The is also a guy called Andrew who was very welcoming and will always appear if you pop a cork! It was our first visit to the Loire region and there is so much to see we shall definitely be returning to continue our explorations. The only problem is that the gite is so relaxing its almost too much trouble to venture out, its perfect to relax in and well placed to explore a very interesting region, with lots of excellent restaurants and endless vineyards to sample. We would highly recommend a stay here.

“Fantastic gite in beautiful surroundings”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2012

Le Grenier is a large gite in a very rural location surrounded by beautiful countryside, birds and wildlife. It's well equipped with plenty of space for the kids, with the added attraction of Samson and Zeus, plus of course the ever present Norman! There are a selection of bikes for the use of the guests, as well as space to play badminton, basketball, etc. The owner, Andrew (Jackie was away), was incredibly accommodating and a wonderful host and it was nice to share a drink two with him and chat about life in France. We would definitely recommend Le Grenier and look forward to returning next year!

“Le Grenier is simply beautiful, spacious and almost too comfortable!”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2012

Myself, Sandie and our two children 11 and 7 travelled from Dublin. This was our first time in a Gite so to be honest we didn't fully know what to expect. Warmly welcomed by Andrew & Jackie, we were shown around our gite and can only say that we were delighted far beyond our expectations. It had everything we needed for an ideal Loire Valley base. Le Grenier is simply beautiful, spacious and almost too comfortable! It's a great location for access to Saumur and numerous lovely rural towns like Montreuil Bellay and Le Puis de Notre Dame. The zoo at Doue la Fontaine was good fun, as are the numerous chateaux and wine tasting experiences. There are very nice restaurants to be found in the surrounding towns. We did sample a couple in our week there but invariably we found ourselves looking forward to getting back to Le Grenier, light the barbecue and soak up the evening sun in the garden. I would highly recommend a stay here.

“The First Place we Book Every Year!! What does that say.....!!”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2012

This was our third stay in Le Grenier and we will certainly be coming back again. We just know the gite will be spotlessly clean and not just home from home, but better. We have the space and privacy we crave for and the children just love it as well. There is plenty to do in the area and yet always nice to come back 'home' to Le Grenier. The Zoo is a must as are the local markets, chateaux and restaurants. We just love being able to get on the bikes and cycle around the lanes and through the vineyards. Jackie and Andrew are available if we wish to have a chat or glass of wine or discuss life in France. You can't beat it!!!

“Beautiful gite, perfect to relax in and well placed to explore a very interesting region.”

Reviewed 15 May 2012

Having stayed in gites of varying quality in many countries this was undoubtedly one of the best in a lovely region to explore. Andrew and Jackie were very welcoming and helpful and the property very comfortable and homely. We loved it and intend to return.

Owner's reply: We had very detailed feedback and have dealt with the issues raised. They were only minor but we do really try and get candid feedback. We have a policy of continual improvement and hope that all future guests will benefit and continue to give us such positive reveiews.

“A really wonderful Gite in a very convenient location.”

A lovely gite, comfortable and spacious. The location was perfect for visiting many of the sight seeing spots in the Loire valley. Thanks to Andrew and Jackie for a very warm welcome and for arranging the wine tasting session for us at a local vineyard. A perfect holiday!
