Description from owner

Description

Uninterrupted views of the sea, elegant period features with modern facilities and fittings in this interior designed, bright and comfortable apartment, provide a calm haven for total relaxation and romance. There is a fully equipped ultra modern kitchen with a luxury Nespresso Coffee machine for the perfect wake up coffee, ample storage for clothes and suitcases, and of course a very stylish bathroom.

This being officially the sunniest spot in the UK, hopefully you get lots of sun to enjoy the beautiful surroundings outside. Being just cross the street from the promenade & the beach, and the only restaurant directly on the beach, Azur, with a stunning terrace to sit in the sun till late or watch the big waves from inside when it's a bit windy, could not be better.

There is also a FreeSat TV and DVD player, lots of books, magazines, some DVD's and an I-Pod/I-Phone docking station with radio for entertainment, just in case the rain sets in.

I try to make your stay extra special, so please contact me for any special requests. This place is especially suited for people who love a bit of elegance and style, in a calm and relaxed setting.

Further details indoors

This almost entirely white home features a very large, open plan living room/dining room and kitchen, tall ceilings and elegant period features, with a mix of modern and antique furniture and a fully equipped, very modern kitchen.

The master bedroom is substantial with an open fireplace and a large period wardrobe, overlooking the 3-tiered, decked rear garden. There is a very smart, fully tiled bathroom with ample store hidden behind mirrored cabinets, and a small, cozy second bedroom with a very comfortable double sofa bed, opening onto the rear garden.

NEW: There's now a TV with Free Sat and a DVD player! There is also wireless broadband, a selection of DVD's to play on your computer and an I-Pod/I-Phone docking station/radio, and there is a washing machine and drying lines (just in case!). For your day on the beach there are folding beach chairs and mats.

Further details outdoors

There is a Romeo and Juliet balcony at the front, perfect for a morning coffee at sunrise, and drinks in the afternoon. There is a decked garden on 3 levels at the rear for a snooze in the sun or drinks in the setting sun, well protected from any sea winds.

Just cross the street and you are on the promenade and beach.

There is free parking outside the house along Marina and in adjacent streets, or also a large car park with free overnight parking, just diagonally across the street so it does not spoil the view, which has very reasonable daily rates.

Walk or cycle along the promenade all the way to the old fishing harbour and Hastings Old Town in one direction, or all the way to the DeLaWarr Pavilion Bexhill in the other. The only 2 places located directly ON the beach are Azur, only 3 minutes walk away direction Hastings, or the Beach Cafe for a great English breakfast after a 30 minutes leisurely walk direction Bexhill (opens at 9am). Many local shops, bars and restaurants are in very close walking distance so no need for the car during your break.

Alternatively, explore the local region with its great natural beauty, historic places, many attractions and lovely historic towns and villages, such as Rye, Battle, Herstmonceux, Bodiam, Tenterden or Tunbridge Wells, to name but a few, all within just an hours drive.

Location description from owner

The East Sussex region

As officially the warmest and sunniest place in the UK, this is a great area for lovers of sea food, seaside walks, country parks, nature walks, architecture, history, local customs and events, historic places and buildings, art, and galleries. And it's the birthplace of motor racing.

Much can be explored on foot, by bike and by car, with much more available within an hours drive for those who want to explore further afar.

There are loads of battle events, castles, and the small town of Battle where it all happened. October is the month to experience its re-enactment. It was Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn's favourite hunting ground too and they've left their mark in castles, hunting lodges and the greatest Royal hunting ground, Ashdown Forest.

There is unique birdwatching in the shingle habitats of Rye Harbour and Dungeness. Walking on the 1066 coastal walkway, the glorious clifftop Country Park, Brede Valley, the Cuckoo Trail, water sports on Bewl Water, the best modernist architecture in Britain and the full range of live music from classical at the De La Warr Pavilion to blues, jazz, bluegrass, Cajun, country and western, folk and tribute bands in most of the old fishing pubs.

Then there's Sissinghurst, Great Dixter, the homes of Rudyard Kipling, Winston Churchill, Anne Boleyn, Henry James, William Logie Baird, John Martyn...........everybody loves it here!

St Leonards on Sea

St. Leonard's-on-Sea was the first custom built seaside resort during mid 19C Regency times for the upper class people from London. Its many exquisite surviving squares, gardens, buildings and facades, especially in Burton St.Leonard's bear testimony to the grandeur of these times, and where the great architects James and Decimus Burton left their mark.

Today it is inviting with its quirky little shops, cafes and restaurants and is home to many galleries.

This is in start contrast to the modern town center of Hastings with its pedestrian zones and the large Priory Meadow shopping center, the buzzing seafront, and the many historic and listed buildings in the Old Town of Hastings, a medieval town formerly home to a community of mostly of farmers and fishermen, where the last remaining beached commercial fishing fleet in Europe squats on the shingle among the famous Rock A Nor net huts.

Hastings and St.Leonard's have so many artists, writers and musicians per square yard that you cannot help running into art galleries, live music and commemorative blue plaques of historic resident authors wherever you look, and now of course the recently opened Jerwood Gallery in Hastings' old harbour.

There are also many festivals here, one every month from July to December. In May the spring festival is also the official opening of the UK motorbike season and every biker seems to gather here on the first Monday in May. September is great with the Coastal Currents Arts Festival in Hastings and St Leonards and a great one in Rye; the famous Hastings Seafood and Wine festival as well. October is the month to re-experience all the aspects of the 1066 Battle of Hastings.

MAY 4-7 JACK-in-the-GREEN pagan spring festival - highlight of the year

JULY 17 - Olympic torch runs through the town

JULY 22 - Pirates Day. The whole town will be dressed in Pirates costumes to take part in the Guinness Record. Don't be left out!

And not forgetting the kids, the fabulous seaside fairground, mini railway, Crazy Golf, Sea Life aquarium, museums, Smugglers Caves, the home of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, and so much more.
