The large walled garden is available for guests to use. It has a summer house as well as two glasshouses, and even a small chapel. It is a very peaceful, quiet place for tranquil relaxation.
St.Leonards on Sea was established as a seaside resort in the Regency period, and many fine streets were added in the 1880s to make it a highly desirable resort. Today it is a centre for artists and antique hunters, with several good restaurants. Nearby Hastings has an attractive 'Old Town' with the new Jerwood Gallery on the fishing beach.
The nearest railway station is St.Leonards Warrior Square, served by trains from London Charing Cross, London Victoria, Brighton and Ashford. Transport from the station may be possible, on request. Access is straightforward from the A21 to London and from the A259 coast road from either east or west.
St.Benedict is a very unusual and special venue for a day or two at the coast or for a longer stay.

The England region

St.Leonards on Sea is an English seaside town on the English Channel designed as a resort in the 19th century by James and decimus Burton. It is characterised by fine period architecture and features interesting artistic and antique shopping as well as many cafes and restaurants along the sea front. The beach and sea bathing is popular in summer.

South East England

This area was developed in the 1880s as a place for wealthy families to find healthy sea air and the relaxed lifestyle of the English seaside. There is fine and distinctive domestic architecture with wide streets.
