Description from owner

Description

Menifters is in a beautiful part of South West Cornwall on the Lizard Peninsula, far enough from the main roads to be quiet and peaceful. Situated on a hill, the cottages look out over unspoilt farmland with breath taking views towards the sea, where boats can be seen in Falmouth Bay.

A footpath takes you down to the sea, through the fields, to the picturesque village of Porthallow Cove where you will find our village pub (food in the summer). The walk takes about 30 minutes, however if you are planning to return at dusk bring a torch (or borrow ours). You can also walk to Porthallow Cove via the almost traffic free lanes, which also takes about 30 minutes. Please note there is no public transport near Menifters.

The nearby village of St Keverne has a convenience store, post office, news agent, two pubs (both do food all year), an organic restaurant and a butchers.

Menifters has four cottages converted from an old, stone farm building. An acre of gardens surround the building with a further four acres of paddocks. All the cottages have well equipped kitchens; they are comfortably furnished and fully heated throughout.

Electricity and bed linen are included in the price, but we do ask you to bring your own towels. A washing machine is available in the laundry room. There is ample parking for cars and boats. We regret no pets in any of the cottages.

Location description from owner

The England region

The Lizard Peninsular lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural beauty. It is the most Southerly Area in Great Britain and provides diverse activities for visitors to the area. To the North and only 4 miles from Menifters is the Helford River renowned for its tree lined creeks, wild life and endless tales of smuggling and shipwrecks. You can also hire motorboats, sailing boats and rowing dinghies.

The Lizard's coast is particularly hazardous to shipping and the seaways round the peninsula were historically known as the "Graveyard of Ships". The ruggedness of the coast can be viewed from the South West Coastal path which can take you around the Lizard coastline. The nearest point of the coastal path is at Porthallow Cove one mile away from us. This is the mid popint of the Soth West Coastal path.

St Keverne

Menifters is surrounded on all sides by Farmland. The nearest Hamlet is Tregarne which is about a half mile walk down Daisy Lane. Our position provides outstanding views of the countryside and the South Cornwall coastline.
