Location description from owner

The Languedoc-Roussillon region

St Jean Lasseille is on the Perpignan plain - with the Albères and Pyrenees visible in the distance. Miles of sandy Mediterranean beaches can be found within 20 minutes' drive – at Argelès, Canet–Plage, St Cyprien. A little farther afield (but served by an excellent motorway) are the beaches of the Costa Brava in northern Spain. The micro-climate in this Mediterranean corner means that temperatures are higher than in the rest of France, and gives Perpignan 320 days of sunshine every year.

Saint Jean Lasseille

St Jean Lasseille is a quiet village with one general-purpose store, a bakery and a bar. At the end of the road is the local wine co-operative where the friendly and helpful staff will be happy to introduce you to the excellent (and very affordable) wines produced in the vicinity. There are good supermarkets about 7 minutes' drive away. The majority of the surrounding countryside is devoted to wine production, with olive and cherry orchards too.

“A lovely home from home, with the bonus of a pool and constant sunshine”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2013

We arrived in glorious sunshine, warmly welcomed by Morag and Mike. They made us feel at home as they showed us around their lovely house. We travelled with our four boys, 16,14,13 and 11 and there was plenty of room for our large family. The pool was really great set in a garden full of fruit, flowers and wildlife (we saw a Hummingbird moth most days). The pool got up to 30C most days and because of the timed pump, it was very clean. The Village is small and wonderfully French, we had a drink in the local bar and the barman served us with a complementary feast of crisps and pickled fish on French bread, drizzled in olive oil, it was delicious! We didn't travel far for most of the holiday as the Holiday Home was so comfortable we preferred to spend our time swimming and playing board games. We travelled to Spain and stood outside the Salvador Dali museum as the queues were too long, but the trip itself was worth the half an hour drive. We would highly recommend this letting and would visit again.

“Lovely Holiday in Languedoc”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2013

This was our second stay in St Jean-Lasseille. The property is lovely, with all you could wish for for a relaxing holiday. For our children, the pool made it. The outside dining area overlooking the pool was a great bonus. The wine co-operative at the end of the road was great value and very friendly. The travel directions and instructions for the house were clear and easy to follow. This is a lovely part of France, with plenty to see and do. We would definitely recommend the Petit Train Jaune from Villefranche de Conflent as a great day out. Spain is very close and we visited Figueres and the Teatro Museo Dali - fantastic and the children loved it. If you drive down the Millau Viaduct is a must - a breathtaking experience. We will definitely want to go again!!

“Excellent holiday in rural Southern France”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2013

We have been to stay at No 6 rue des Mourvedres 3 times, it has an excellent quiet village location, and first class facilities in the property, which comfortably sleeps 6 (in an ensuite double and a further double and bunk bedded room which share a separate toilet and bathroom). It is a convenient 40 minute drive from Perpignan airport, and there is a supermarche on the way. The location is a short drive from Canet Plage, Perpignon and the Spanish Border, with heaps to do for a family (we travelled with a 2 and 7 year old). The vinyard tap is conveniently only 2 minutes walk away. We will be back!
