Location description from manager

The Brittany region

Brittany is one of France's favourite visitor destinations, offering superb sandy beaches, unspoilt countryside, traditional country towns and some superbly preserved historic monuments. The region is firmly French but running through daily life is a strong Celtic heritage, with traditional Breton festivals and events taking place throughout the year.

The North coast of the Côtes D'Armor is a long coastline of sandy beaches, dramatic headlands, secluded coves and a string of traditional seaside towns and villages. Inland the countryside is gently hilly with a network of footpaths, miles of uncrowded lanes and pretty towns and villages to explore. The seaside citadel town of St Malo, medieval Dinan and the impressive Mont St Michel all well worth visiting. Paris is within easy reach by high speed train, tickets booked in advance can be very good value.

Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer

St Jacut is situated on a peninsula with 11 safe sandy beaches to explore. As well as swimming in the clean waters rockpooling and fishing, a sailing school is close by as well as a diving school . Kayak hire is also available. The area is ideal for cycling, or walking along the coastal footpath which runs directly outside the front of the house. Close by is the ruined Chateau Guildo and the peaceful Arguenon river valley. The popular resorts of Dinard, St Briac and St Lunaire are very close. A little further is the walled port of St Malo ,the medieval town of Dinan and the world heritage site of Mont St. Michel.

There is a good number of excellent golf courses a short drive away from the house, including Dinard (founded in 1887), St Malo, Pen Guen (St Cast) and Sables D'Or at Cap Frehel. Perhaps the best course is located at Pléneuf Val André, which should be on every golfers 'must play' list. As the language can sometimes be a barrier , we can liaise with the course on your behalf and book tee times for you so your golf is all arranged before you arrive.

“A great apartment in a fabulous location”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2012

We had a wonderful week in St Jacut de la Mer. With so many sandy beaches on the doorstep and great amenities in the village, it made for a very relaxing week. The apartment was well equipped, clean and perfect for a family. Thank you...we will be back!

“Lovely sea view and great location for walking”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2011

This apartment could be great, but lacks the attention it deserves. On our visit it was superficially cleaned, but needed a good pre-season deep clean in and out; settee, futon and cushions were stained etc. There are no mirrors, shelves or hooks in any bedrooms (no hooks either in bathroom, only towel rail to hang anything on). The double bed had no mattress protector, just a sheet on the mattress. We paid for bed linen and towels, but no towels had been left. The towel rail was not working, so no towels could be dried after use. When the owner turned up the next day it appear he had only to flick the relevant fuse switches for the towel rail and heating! Things like this could easily be covered in a Welcome Pack, or information for the apartment. Mostly self catering places do give you something to tell you about the appliances, heating, air conditioning etc. and some local useful information. There were all the instruction manuals for the appliances but left on a shelf together with the TV not near the appliances themselves, and no general information about the rental or area. There was a note in the bathroom asking that the exterior blind should not to be put down; an issue with thin interior blinds and no frosted glass as bathroom overlooks coastal path. The extractor in the toilet presumably was not to be used also, as the pull cord was looped up out of the way. On a safety issue, one bar of the balcony rail was broken and left on the ground. Purely on a decorative level - the place is very bare and could so easily be made more welcoming with a few local prints on the walls, maybe, and those missing mirrors! We got the distinct impression that the owner, although nice enough, doesn't actually care about one's stay at the property. We got a discount but it was a late booking, so quite a normal practice. Having said all that, the location is wonderful if you like unspoilt views - the garden lets on to the coastal path, the front of the house on to the main street into the town, which has everything you need in the way of shopping. The view to the seaside is constantly changing with tides, weather, time of day all making it very lovely (also good birdwatching). There are supermarkets also, within a short drive of St Jacut. I would stay again but would hope some of these comments might have made a difference.
