The property is a beach side flat with beautiful sea views westward over the Atlantic Ocean and within minutes of St Ives town center. It is a top floor maisonette (no lift) of a striking 1960s block of flats built on Porthmeor beach. We are about a 5 minute walk from the bustling town center and a stone's throw from the Tate Museum. The flat has 2 balconies facing both East over the town center and West over the beach and Atlantic Ocean so you can be guaranteed to watch the sun set and make the most of the weather.
The flat comprises of 2 downstairs bedrooms which sleep 4 people (bunk beds and 1x double bed) and 1x bathroom, one ground floor open-plan living/kitchen/dining room with a sea view balcony, one mezzanine level with a private balcony facing the harbor and town center (this can be a real sun trap). The flat has been a family holiday home since my grandfather, (an artist) bought it when it was first built. We have kept all the original 1960's fixtures and fittings. As a result, it is extremely comfortable but does not have all the modern conveniences of some newer properties - it does NOT have wifii, Satellite TV, a dishwasher, washing machine, wet room or a lift! We do however have a freeview TV in the living room, books and a garage, and of course the beach just steps below. There is also a communal laundry with 2 large washing machines and a big tumble dryer in the courtyard downstairs. Duvets are provided but no bed linen or towels, these will need to be brought with you or booked locally.
As a result of the open plan living room, open slatted stairs and second floor location with low balcony railing the flat is not suitable for people with very young children or anyone unable to climb several flights of stairs.

The Cornwall region
St Ives is located on the North Coast of Cornwall about 20 miles before the furthest Western point of Land's End.
St Ives was an old fishing village which became an artist's colony in the 1950's and 60s. Its now a bustling holiday town which has retained a lot of its old charm and character with cobbled streets and narrow alley ways It has 3 beautiful sandy beaches, a long sandy harbor front and many art galleries (The Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum to name a few) exhibiting local and international artists who made their home here; Barabara Hepworth, Patrick Heron, Alfred Wallis, Ben Nicholson, Roger Hilton... The beaches are also famous for being unspoiled and having excellent waves for surfing and watersports. The surrounding countryside is typical of Cornwall; dramatic coastline, huge tides and craggy rocks. There are many lovely walks to take from St Ives along the coast, either West towards Zennor or East towards Hayle and Godrevey Lighthouse. St Ives also has numerous gourmet restaurants.
Our flat has the best location in St Ives, right on Porthmeor beach facing West over the Atlantic. All the beaches are sandy and have an enormous and dramatic tides. The sea on Porthmeor can be quite rough and have big waves, as a result, it is very popular with surfers. Porthminster beach faces into the bay and is therefore calmer, safer and better for swimming. The third beach; Porthgwidden is very nearby and also excellent for swimming.
