Description from owner

A tranquil retreat tucked away in a truly magical rural setting, Owl Lodge is perfect for singles, couples, friends and families seeking relaxation and the chance to appreciate life's simple pleasures. Located off the beaten track, it nestles in the heart of a private family-owned country estate immersed in mellow countryside, a few miles outside of Liskeard.

Come to this deeply peaceful destination for dreamy views, clean Cornish air, a rich wildlife, dark skies for stargazing and glorious rest and relaxation. Owl Lodge is completely detached and feels nicely private. You have your own sunny patio with lovely rural views over the pasture and woodland and a picnic table for barbecues, sundowners and idle time. It is ideal for children who can meet the resident animals and let off steam in the natural meadow or outdoor play area. You can enjoy a peaceful amble through 25 acres of ancient bluebell woods.

At the end of your wonderful day out, return home to your single storey cedar-clad hideaway. You will have your own parking area by your Lodge. Step inside and through the hall to a light and welcoming open plan living and dining room. A wonderful space for socialising and relaxing with comfy sofas and a well equipped kitchen. There are two cosy bedrooms, a double and a twin, both furnished with ample storage, good quality beds with freshly laundered linen and the peaceful location will ensure a restful break. A modern bathroom completes the picture inside. Owl Lodge provides comfortable and affordable accommodation with a focus on green living in idyllic seclusion - it is no surprise that it has a lot of repeat guests!

You will find the location well placed for exploring being within easy reach of both Cornish coasts, West Devon, Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor National Park. The three miles of sandy beaches, South West Coast Path, tall cliffs and dramatic scenery at Whitsand Bay is not far as are other lovely beaches and Cornish coves. For old world charm, head to the fishing village of Polperro. The seaside town of Looe and the exclusive waterfront town of Fowey, with their tempting array of restaurants, pubs, galleries and independent shops, are also within easy reach. Visit the historic port of Charlestown, one of the most recognisable locations in the BBC's Poldark's series. Cotehele, the National Trust Tudor house, garden & estate on the Tamar; Lanhydrock, the National Trust's Victorian country house with gardens and wooded estate; the world famous Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are a must for garden lovers. Parents can relax with endless opportunities for children in all weathers. Crealy Adventure Park, Dairyland Farm World, Adrenalin Quarry, Lappa Valley Steam Railway and Blue Reef Aquarium are just a few of the many within easy reach and all highly recommended.

Dogs are welcome (please ensure that you tell us, before you book, that you want to bring a dog(s) as there is a small charge).

Parking is available for one family sized car (please ask, before booking, if you intend to bring more than one and/or a trailer and if your car has low ground clearance).

There is a laundry with washing machine and tumble drier (nominal charge).

Cots and Highchairs can be hired (you’ll need to bring your own bedding, please reserve when booking).

For your personal benefit whilst you are here you are able, rather than have an arbitrary higher amount hidden in your rental, to pay just for the electricity you intend to use. Therefore the less you intend to use, the less you pay. As a guide (cooking, hot water, lights, tv etc); average use is about 70p per day from the beginning of May to the end of September in Owl Lodge.

Treat yourself to a holiday at Cutkive Wood, you'll get a friendly welcome and we'll help you to enjoy and make the most of your time in Cornwall.

Very Good

“A little piece of Heaven”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2017

We're just back from spending a wonderful week in Cornwall, made even more wonderful by our stay at Cutkive Wood. Upon our arrival we received a warm, friendly welcome from owners Andy & Jacqui (along with delicious scones with jam & cream ... what a way to start a holiday!) Cutkive Wood consist of 6 lodges overlooking a beautiful meadow (we were lucky enough to wake up one morning to watch a deer in the meadow). The lodges are very private, separated by trees and dense foliage and each with their own parking space; you wouldn't even know you had neighbours! Our lodge was immaculate, tastefully decorated and equipped with absolutely everything you could want/need, in perfect condition (ie spotlessly clean, no chips on crockery, no stains etc). The beds were extremely comfortable with lovely fresh, clean linen; all the appliances were clean, well maintained and worked perfectly. The walk through the woods is stunning. Our two boys also loved playing in the playground and feeding the pigs and goats with Andy and Jacqui. Quite honestly, I cannot fault anything, I just wish we could've stayed longer! So it was with heavy hearts that we left this little piece of Heaven to return to the hustle and bustle of normal life. We're looking forward to a return visit already!

Owner's reply: Well thank you kindly Claire. It was great to meet you all and we're so pleased that you enjoyed yourselves so much. Obviously we always expect the Lodges to be 'just what you want' as we personally make sure that they as good as they should be. We'll look forward to seeing you again and until then all the best, Andy & Jackie.

“great peaceful place”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2015

lovely lodge in a fine woodland setting. friendly service when needed lodge was clean and well prepared and comfortable. nice woodland walks and close to good eating places. if you want a quiet peaceful break this is the place .

Owner's reply: Thanks very much, we much appreciate your kind words; Cutkive Wood is a special place, nestling as it does in the Cornish countryside, and the peace and tranquility is very important to us and our guests. We personally clean and prepare the Lodges so that all of our guests get that 'personal service' and a friendly welcome (some of them have been coming here for many years and are ‘old friends’ now!). We're always happy to help as much as we can so that everyone can relax and enjoy their holiday here at Cutkive Wood. It was good to meet you all this year and we’ll look forward to seeing you again next year. Until then, all the best!
