Description

This top floor apartment is furnished and equipped to a good standard in typical Austrian charm and style. There is a good sized double bedroom, a smaller second bedroom with 2 single beds, large bathroom with double sinks, bath and shower over and separate toilet. The spacious lounge has a large sofa with seating for 6-8 people. The sofa also converts into 2 more single beds, providing comfortable accommodation for 6 people. There is a TV with a vast selection of German and Austrian channels and also CNN and Eurosport. Alternatively, an assortment of films are available to watch on the DVD player. The lounge also has a very attractive log fire. The kitchen is equipped with all the usual requirements for a family holiday.

The dining area has a traditional Austrian feel with a large table and bench seat with seating for 6-8 people and has views out over the village and lake.

There is a good sized balcony accessible from the lounge with a table and 4 chairs and parasol for use. The view is spectacular all year round.

The cellar has a washing room with washing machine and tumble dryer, both payable locally. There is also a drying room with washing line and pegs available. In addition, there is a large storeroom with ski rack.

At the end of your stay a cleaning & laundry charge is due in cash for the housekeeper. This is dependent on the number of guests up to a maximum charge of €95.

There is allocated parking outside the building as well as overflow for guests. The building sits in open grounds with lots of room for children to run around. Deer are a frequent visitor to the area too . There is a small river running down past the side with a pleasant walk into the village. The area is very well mainatained and in winter the roads are ploughed and gritted daily, passable with two wheel drive even in heavy snow.

“THis place has everything you need for a relaxing holiday......”

I wanted to revisit St. Gilgen with my family as I can remember what a splendid holiday I had here as a boy many years ago. There is something or everyone in the area - nice walks in the mountains, great places to swim and sunbath by the lake, nice spars and cafes to indulge oneself, good local restaurants to saviour the high calorie local diet ! and nearby culture by the bucket load should you need it– there are many local places of interest (including some Sound of Music locations if that way inclined) and its a good base for short day trip excursions. We had perfect weather most of the time. The flat is located just above the village and within a short walk of all the facilities including a decent supermarket and tourist office. The location means you get a lovely uninterrupted view of the lake from the balcony – and so its easy to take it easy without having to actually get out and do anything…. The flat is comfortable and well equipped – the owners have thought long and hard about what is needed – we all really had a lovely time here.

Ease of access from Munich made a good beginning, although travelling back on a Saturday requires a little more time. The village was easy to find.The Flat ditto. The village itself was almost too pretty to be true and the surrounding area was breathtaking. We walked a lot, in spite of the heat, and discovered some really great walks, particularly in the hills above Strobl. The odd touring day took us to a range of small towns and villages, each different in itheir own way.Local shopping was good and reasonably priced and there is a wide selection of eateries of all sorts and prices. We couldn't have asked for more in terms of comfort and facilities in the apartment.. A final joy was the friendliness of everyone we met: Austrians do have a certain something and we Scots could cewrtainly learn a lot from them about running an effective tourist infrastructure. We are actively considering a return trip next summer.
