The spa resort of Saint-Gervais is situated at the foot of Mont Blanc and has attracted tourists since 1806 for its therapeutic waters. At an altitude of 850 metres, St Gervais’ first ski lifts were installed in the 1930’s. With access into its own ski area linked with Megeve, it has recently found new popularity, particularly with families. Set in a narrow river gorge halfway between Megève and Chamonix, the landscape is impressive wherever you look and a trip up the mountain on the Mont-Blanc Tramway is not to be missed. There’s a good choice of bars, restaurants, bakeries & creperies (not to mention the chocolate!) and several supermarkets to use for everyday essentials. The local market comes to town on a Thursday with a range of Savoyard treats.
The main ski area of Saint-Gervais is vast and forms part of the Evasion ski domain and its 420 kms of slopes. It offers truly breathtaking views of Mont-Blanc and is linked with Megeve from the slopes of Mont d'Arbois, accessed by 20-person gondola from the edge of the village.
This area is particularly recommended in winter for intermediates and snowboarders can enjoy one of the best snow parks in the region. The Mont-Joly and Mont-Joux sections offer the steepest slopes where some good off-piste can also be found. There are some excellent mountain restaurants!!
Skiing on the Mont Blanc side of Saint-Gervais is served by the Tramway Mt Blanc, a rack-and-pinion 1904 railway that takes you to the slopes of Les Houches in the winter, and the foot of Mt Blanc for walking in the summer.
Other local ski areas:
20 minutes from Chamonix or Megeve villages
15 minutes to Les Contamines, Combloux, Praz-sur-Arly & Flumet ski areas
30-50 minutes to Argentiere, La Flegere, Le Tour, Le Brevent, Flaine and Les Gets ski areas

"Our Second Home"
We have stayed at chalet “Fleur de Roches” on many occasions over the past 6 years, especially out of season. Our parties have ranged from 2-6 adults, but there is ample room for 8 adults and 2 children. The accommodation is a traditional mountain chalet of high standard and is extremely well equipped and comfortable for the maximum number of guests. All equipment is of good quality and the chalet is always warm with plenty of hot water. The garden makes an ideal suntrap in either summer or winter months and gives spectacular views of the mountains and valley. St Gervais has many good restaurants and shops to meet all your needs and 15mins by car (Le Fayet) gives you access to large Intermarche and SuperU stores which have a wider selection of goods. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area including mountain walks, lake swimming, wind surfing, sightseeing, spa, etc. A car is a real bonus, especially if you wish to travel any distance. Megeve, Chamonix, Annecy, Geneva and Italy are within easy reach. For a real multinational day you can have croissants in France, Pasta/Pizza in Italy (via Mont Blanc tunnel) and crepes in Switzerland (via St Gothard tunnel). The caretaker is very friendly and always available if needed, we would not hesitate in recommending this chalet.
