Bluestone Church itself is as pretty as a picture; this historic charming little chapel building (circa 1856) sits in an elevated position in private gardens enjoying wonderful scenic views over the River Earn and Loch Earn and to the majestic high hills and forests surrounding. Make no mistake our beautiful loch-side village of St. Fillans is set amongst some of the country's most deeply dramatic and atmospheric Scottish scenery imaginable. Enjoying the idyllic scenic beauty of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park this is the geographical centre of Scotland, just the perfect base to enjoy Scotland's renowned food, drink and hospitality as well as its splendid outdoor activities and many fascinating visitor attractions.

St. Fillans sits comfortably along the banks of beautiful Loch Earn which can be easily accessed for picnics, water-sports, fishing, bird-spotting and many wonderful walks. Wildlife sightings are plentiful: Salmon, Trout, Red Deer, Ospreys, Kites, Buzzards, Wild Goats, Red Squirrels to name a few. Perfect location for touring, situated near to Stirling, Crieff and Gleneagles as well as central between Glasgow to the west and Edinburgh in the east, both major cities can be reached in just over an hour's drive.

The accommodation: cleverly converted Bluestone Church provides the perfect romantic Scottish hideaway with home-from-home comforts, cosy sitting room, open-plan kitchen/dining and sunroom, with log-burner and electric heating, all superbly equipped with everything you could possibly need to enjoy a relaxing holiday. We offer modern, comfortable 4-star quality self-catering accommodation with private gardens and parking ideally suited for 2 to 4 guests (for guest comfort the house is no-smoking and no-pets)

Your comfort is extremely important to me. The beds are really very comfortable (wider and longer than most) arranged either as super king-size or separated into twins. You choose how we prepare the beds specifically to your own bedding preference. All our white linens are 100% high quality cotton and luxury bedding toppings are your choice; super-soft sumptuous goose-down, or hypo-allergenic cotton options are all available and towels and dressing gowns are provided. The front bedroom has an en-suite bath, basin & toilet. The rear bedroom has a power shower adjacent with a further toilet and basin downstairs. Hairdryers are provided.

The very well equipped kitchen has possibly every appliance you might need, with plenty of crockery, cutlery, glassware, and cooking utensils including 'sharp' knives. We provide a breakfast starter pack of bacon, eggs, bread, milk, & butter (or vegetarian options), and a welcome tea tray awaits your arrival. For the convenience of our guests we have a 'ready steady cook' kitchen with most general basic grocery items available, so whatever time you arrive at the cottage you will be able to make a simple meal.

Rental rates are all inclusive of changeover housekeeping, electricity, logs for the fire, starter pack and tea tray. Also available for you: picnic chairs, portable barbecue, flasks, rucksacks, picnic basket and blankets, umbrellas, walking sticks, golf clubs, binoculars, shopping bags etc.

The village shop is just next door and is ideal for most basic groceries, newspapers, ice creams, alcohol and fishing licences. Best of all they have a cute little coffee shop with excellent coffees, the perfectly convenient place where owner Liam will make-to-order a lovely fresh home-cooked breakfast.

St. Fillans has a nine-hole golf course which is a true delight and amazingly the green fee works out at around just £1 per hole. Just a short drive from the house it is situated in a stunning valley between the high hills with great views and also offers delicious home-made clubhouse catering.

For fishermen, fishing licences can be purchased from the Village Shop and simply walk across the footbridge to find a nice beach on the other side of the Loch from where you can fish.

If total relaxation is your thing, take the picnic chairs down to one of the little beaches around the Loch, enjoy a picnic at the water's edge, enjoy the lovely views, so beautiful through all the different seasons.

On arrival the keys will be waiting for you, for self-entry, and Grace will telephone you at the cottage to welcome you in and answer any queries you may have. House Manager, Jo (Joanne) Steventon, who lives nearby, will be happy to assist you with any queries, and emergencies. If you wish, Jo will be able to suggest trips out, and things you might like to do. Or, if you prefer a 'hands-off' approach that is fine too. Liam at the Village Shop is also a very helpful contact, please just tell him you are a guest of Grace (and Jo) at Bluestone Church, and I am sure he will look after you. Good coffee shop, cooked breakfasts, and friendly local people.

It was our pleasure to have you back again, it is always comforting to welcome return visitors, reassured that we are keeping on top of the things that are important. Great to know that you enjoyed a really comfortable stay at Bluestone and beautiful St. Fillans just as much as you ever did. Thank you for noticing all the changes and improvements we keep making, and that you were impressed with our new pretty blue picket-fence in place of that old overgrown hedge. Keeps the garden private and secure and has revealed such a lovely view over the trees to the high hills beyond. Please thank your girls for us for feeding the wild ducks that come into the garden, the girls and the ducks will have loved that! We appreciate all your recommendations on local wining and dining and visitor attractions, again a great help for our other guests. I must say our friendly local Hoteliers, the Village Shop, and the Golf Club deserve a lot of praise, they have been amazingly inventive with home-deliveries, and take-aways, ordering things in for people, and generally looking after everyone's safety.. How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
