Description from owner

Bluestone Church is a charming converted chapel dating back to 1859 nestling in the village of St Fillans in beautiful highland Perthshire. Queen Juliana of The Netherlands and Kathryn Hepburn took their holidays in St Fillans and said their prayers at The Bluestone Church . It is a romantic holiday home with a unique charm, and offers the opportunity for a wonderful relaxing holiday.

We offer modern, comfortable 4 star quality self-catering accommodation. The Bluestone Church enjoys an elevated position with private gardens and parking and is ideally suited for 2 to 4 guests. We are perfectly situated, near to Stirling, Crieff and Gleneagles as well as central between Glasgow to the west and Edinburgh in the East, all within about one hours' drive.

St Fillans is a pretty loch-side village, the scenery is quintessentially Scottish, with beautiful Loch Earn just 100 yards away which you can easily access for picnics, water-sports, fishing, bird spotting and many wonderful walks. There are red deer in the hills and Ospreys on the Loch. It's the perfect relaxing location to enjoy all that Scotland has to offer - beautiful scenery, outdoor activities including many golf courses, and many and varied visitor attractions.

The cottage is warm and cosy with a wood burning stove (fuel provided) being a feature of the open-plan kitchen, dining and sun room area. The comfortable lounge looks out to views over the River Earn and the hills beyond.

Your comfort is very important to us, the beds are 'long' and 'comfortable' and can be arranged either as super king-size (two single beds together) or separated into twins. White linens, and a choice of duvets and pillows, blankets and covers to suit everyone, and towels and dressing gowns are provided. The front bedroom has an en-suite bath, basin & toilet and the rear bedroom has a power shower adjacent with a further toilet and basin downstairs. Hairdryers are provided.

For those who want to get away but still want to remain connected, the cottage has a large flat screen TV with Sky Entertainments and Sports package, Wireless Broadband, MP3 player with TV's and DVD's in all rooms.

A fully equipped and modern kitchen has virtually every appliance you could need as well as ample crockery, cutlery, glassware, and cooking utensils. We provide a starter pack of bacon, eggs, bread, milk, & butter or a vegetarian option is available. For the convenience of our guests we have a 'ready steady cook' kitchen with most general basic grocery items available, guaranteeing that whatever time you arrive at the cottage you will be able to make a simple meal.

Rental rates are all inclusive of changeover house-keeping, electricity and logs. Also included for your use are picnic chairs, portable barbecue, flasks, rucksacks, picnic basket, and picnic blankets.

The village shop is almost next door and is ideal for most basic groceries, newspapers, alcohol and licences for the fishermen. They have a coffee shop offering excellent coffee, home baked cakes and a light menu which includes wonderful bacon butties and BLT's (Bacon, Lettice & Tomato sandwiches).

For golfers St Fillans has a nine hole Course which is a true delight. Just a short drive from the house it is situated in a stunning valley between the high hills and also offers clubhouse catering. For fishermen, purchase your licence next door and simply walk across the bridge to fish. If total relaxation is all you want then take the picnic chairs down to one of the little beaches around the Loch, and enjoy a glass of wine on the water's edge and enjoy the lovely scenery. Beautiful in all the seasons.

We look forward to welcoming you to Bluestone Church, St. Fillans on Loch Earn, Perthshire. The cottage lies within the designated area of outstanding natural beauty, the 'Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park', and ideally placed for touring, as we located in the geographical centre of Scotland. Please be assured of our pledge to do all that we can to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay, and a good experience of Scottish hospitality.

Best Wishes

Very Good

“Peace and comfort in the Trossachs”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2018

Beautiful, cosy base to explore the magnificent scenery around the loch and beyond! Had everything we needed and more in terms of facilities and equipment - picnic chairs came in very handy. Short walk to two fabulous hotels for dinner. Will definitely be back!

Owner's reply: I very much appreciate and thank you for taking time to share your very positive review of the peace and comfort offered here at Bluestone Church, as well as the amenities of our beautiful loch-side village. It is always so gratifying to hear such complementary words and to know you enjoyed a comfortable and happy time holiday here - that is exactly what we aim for and is really great to have affirmed. Thank you again, we hope we can welcome you back sometime in the future. Best Wishes Grace

“Excellent cottage”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2016

Excellent cottage in every aspect, comfortable, clean and everything you could require at your fingertips. A pure pleasure to have stayed at this wonderful gem. St Fillans itself is a quiet little location with great walks around the loch, yet near enough for driving to some beautiful and historical places of interest. I will certainly return to this excellent cottage in the future.
