Description from owner

Description

A genuinely high quality, non-smoking and pet free cottage, all on one level, between St. Davids and Fishguard in the hamlet of Penparc, on the St. Davids Peninsula, close to the centre of the best stretch of the Pembrokeshire coast north east of St Davids. The cottage is situated within the protected Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

There are extensive sea views from the immediate environs altough not from the cottage itself. Just one mile down the lane is the much loved village of Trefin, which is almost surrounded on three sides by the coast.

The cottage has been built in the last few years, but with plenty of character giving the impresssion of a much older cottage. It was actually given in the grading process sufficient points as would ordinarily make it a five star cottge, but the lack of a dishwasher precludes a five star grading, so it is graded four star, but the points awarded reflect the quality. It was actually given in the grading process sufficient points as would ordinarily make it a five star cottge, but the lack of a dishwasher precludes a five star grading, so it is graded four star, but the points awarded reflect the quality. In fact we have just put a dishwasher into the cottage since the last inspection so that on the next inspection we will obtain that 5 star rating!

The spacious living room is open up to the rafters and benefits from a log-burning stove giving an open light and truly relaxing feeling. As well as being comfortably furnished the room also has a television, video , DVD player and stereo CD/radio system. This room has the benefit of French doors which open out onto a small garden with garden furniture.

The bedroom has a comfortable double bed with extensive wardrobe space and extra thick mattress .

Again since our last inspection we have completely revamped the shower room, its now very modern spacious and smart - used to be a bathroom, so now well above average size for a shower room.

The dining kitchen has been refitted in the last couple of years by a quality tradesman and benefits from a full size cooker, washing machine, fridge and microwave. There is every gadget and utensil you will need for your holiday along with good quality crockery and utensils.

All furniture beds, bedding and furnishings are of the highest quality and tastefully appointed. The information folders are well organized and must praised by visitors and tourist board inspectors alike.

Location description from owner

The St Davids Peninsula region

St. Davids

The cottage is situated in the hamlet of Penparc, and really well situated for travelling around the St David's Peninsula, being only 300 yards off the main road connecting St Davids to Fishguard. One mile down a quite country lane from our cottages and hamlet is the acclaimed village of Trefin, situated on clifftops between the famous harbours of Porthgain and beautiful Abercastle. Trefin has its own cove on the edge of the village at Aberflin, with numerous rock pools in this small sand and shingle beach which is surrounded on three sides by rugged cliffs. Trefin is quite a bustling village with a pub and a couple of tea shops. Just a few hundred yards south along the coast is a wonderful sandy National trust beach Traethllyfn , and an equally short distance further on is the famed harbour of Porthgain. Beyond that is the beach of Aberreidy, porbably the most painted scene in Wales. Also only a short distance north of our local village, Trefin, is the superb small harbour of Abercastle. Then in either direction on the coast are some wonderful beaches, coves and harbours, all connected by the famous Coast Path. Not far away is the famous RSPB sanctuary island of Ramsey, accessible by regular boat trips from St Justinians just outside St Davids. There are of couse numerous other boating opportunities in the immediate area, as well as surfing, coastering etc

“Immaculate cottage in a beautiful locatioin.”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2016

I had a truly wonderful stay at this well equipped, immaculately clean little cottage. Its in a lovely location, very close to beautiful walks on the coastal path, stunning scenery and lots of little hidden coves to explore. I was welcomed by Joy, the caretaker to make sure everything was ok. I even found a botlle of wine in the fridge which i thought was a lovely touch. All in all , a really nice experience. The only downside was no wifi, which i was under the impression would be available.Apparently you have to go up the road a few miles to the local library.not really ideal as i was hoping to keep up my regular skype chats with familly. As i said though, a lovely holiday, highly recommendable.

I appreciate your comments about the cottage and location. I am sorry you were disappointed about not having wifi. I am not sure where you got the impression there was wifiin the cottage, its not mentioned in our advertising etc. As it happens you can get an excellent 3 and 4G signal on you tablet, phone etc in the cottage - indeed I watched the wales v England game at the euros on this throughout! Or you can pick up wifi in a wonderful tea room just a mile down the road in Trefin, the owner is very relaxed about his customers lingering to use their wifi!
